St Helens, my current place of work has a plethora of open water areas. This AQA Unit Award is used to inform students of the risks posed by the open water areas. I fell that this presentation can be used by any key stage and can be used to enforce practical swimming lessons.

Understanding Respect

In a pupil referral unit, for new students whom are mainly male we start with a “good conversation” pro forma to break the ice. We then incorporate RESPECT into one to one sessions, and in group sessions. We have found that the students engage well in this activity and are surprised by how much they pay attention and utilise dictionaries and online resources for their research. Staff appreciate the opportunity to “self-disclose!”

This lesson was designed for year 10/11 students who were studying GCSE sport. The lesson has been adapted for assembly for year 10 boys who were at risk of being led into steroid use as they were members of local gymnasiums.

Recommended Behaviour Reporting Protocol

The majority of permanent exclusions are for persistent disruptive behaviour according to the DFE, (2021). If all schools would publish the report types and the duration of time on these reports then intervention could prevent exclusions. Advocacy for parents should be sought wherever possible. Do we know if our parents understand what is expected from them? Do they understand the disciplinary system in your school?

This resource was an introduction lesson for sports leaders who wished to pass the level 2 course. This resource is useful for those who are on G.C.S.E Sports courses/OCR Sports courses, and contains a nice activity to finish.

This powerpoint has been used in a pupil referral unit for PHSE. Rather than just delivery for delivery sakes, this lesson opens up further discussion in groups.

This resource is accompanied by an AQA Unit. It is utilised in an exclusion unit on day 6 where we aim to turn students around as an authority and prepare them for another school. It is useful also to be used as a behaviour tool with students who are prone to fixed term exclusions. The work includes a certain amount of self-reflection and research and is very useful to drive one to one sessions.

Currently working on Masters level 7 work on critical reflection and this allows me to reflect on practices incorporated in secondary school. One practice which I engage passionately with is how the most vulnerable students are educated off site, very often by unqualified teaching staff?

I have uploaded this lesson as it covers a detailed explaination for teachers and students alike as to why airlines fly certain routes. It maps out the hub and spoke model, and why airlines bank aircraft at hub airports. It covers the “Great Circle” theory and budget airlines

With more and more demand being placed on educational professionals to attend multi-agency meetings this document helps assess student composition. Developed with work alongside social services, I have used this document to assist teachers to see past just academic profiling.
