A lesson that allows students to use a wide rage of skills in a really fun and engaging way. Pupils design their character and vehicle and present there characteristics through detailed data presentation. They then lead their troops to the alien base to defeat the enemy. It’s probably the best lesson that I have created and my kids loved it. Best used over 2 1hr lessons and with kids that have a basic grasp of maps and data, but it is not essential.

A lesson that provides the detailed information and mindmap outline relating to the causes, effects and responses to the coronavirus. Students use the information sheet to create their own mindmap relating to the coronavirus. Once completed, they can then go onto write an article, create a role play (news broadcast) or write a government leaflet advising people on the virus. It is also a good tool for enabling understanding of the reliability of statistics and data and how quickly data can change. All sheets work best when printed in A3.

All our resources are editable (so easy to adapt for your classes) and are designed to last one hour each. An engaging lesson that looks at pay day loans & debt. A lesson that provides pupils with a decision making task for two very different people. They have to look at each case study and offer advice on the best way for that person to deal with their financial situation. It covers lifestyle, expenses, living costs, debt, empathy and wise choices. My kids loved doing this and feeding back what they would do in the situation of each character.

stereotyping lesson activity SMSC PSE PSHCE form moral

A simple activity that gets pupils thinking about the judgments that they make about people simply based upon their looks. Used as part of the KS3 SMSC scheme of work, but good for any age range. Fill in the definition box. Sort the words around the two pictures to which best matches to the image. Share & discuss why they may be totally wrong. Pupils write a short paragraph as to why stereotyping people is such a bad thing to do. They then explain how stereotyping might have a negative impact upon your current and future life using the table. They then annotate the Dysney picture to show how media & film portrays heroes & villains, thus building upon social stereotypes.

All our resources are editable (so easy to adapt for your classes) and are designed to last one hour each. An engaging lesson that looks at what it means to be a teenager in Britain today. It is an active lesson that requires pupils to gather data and then present it. It works well at both KS3 & 4 and is a key area of the SMSC PSHCE specification. Students add to the table of things that are important to them. They then walk around the room and create a tally based on their peers top 3 most important factors from their list. They then rank the issues from most to least. 1-8. A histogram can then be create using their data. In discussion with their partner, pupils then identify what they perceive other people in society think about teenagers. One done, they complete a simple success critera.

A simple school grounds based project in a self-contained booklet. The project looks at the best location on the school grounds to build a picnic site. It involved data collection, presentation, analysis and evaluation. All crucial geographical skills. It outlines hypotheses and students complete a conclusion based on their findings. A great end of year activity when the weather improves a little. Takes about 5-6 lessons to complete.

A fantastic lesson that the kids loved doing. It involves pupils creating their own weather forecast linked to the factors that influence the weather in the UK (NAD & air masses). They simple read the information provided (I normally print it in A3), make notes on it and create a weather forecast that they then present to the class. They work on their presentations for homework too. Very simple to teach and usually takes 3 lessons to get through.

They then create their ingredients list, putting the information into their own words. There is then a sort to complete. S&C can be to sort their work using the keys provided.

Information about the impact that McDonalds is having upon the planet. Links brilliantly to SMSC, geography and Science. The lesson is designed to give students an understanding of obesity related to fast food, the reasons for its growth in Asia and the environmental impacts (both good & bad). I provided the pupils with the information sheet (printed in colour & on A3). They read it & made notes. They then had to present a 2 minute talk to the class without repetition, hesitation or saying ummm or ok or like. It truly promotes oracy, literacy and presentation skills along with independent and creative learning. The kids loved it and it is incredibly simple and easy to teach.
