Average Rating4.00

I am a prep school Head of English with over 20 years of teaching experience. I'm also a professional, award-winning writer. Combining these two roles has enabled me to create a range of original, informative and humorous assembly scripts. These scripts were written for KS2 classes but could easily be used with KS3 pupils also. A range of themes covered... more to follow in due course!

India Assembly Script (KS2/3)

This 15 minute script was written by an experienced primary school Head of English who is also, outside of school, an award-winning writer. The script was penned for a high ability Year 5 class but is suitable for performance by any year group in KS2 or 3. The script is deliberately humorous, yet is also full of informative and educational learning opportunities about the culture, history and geography of India. The script, as written, has 25 parts but these could easily be split or doubled up depending on the number of children involved.

Exploring Character Status

Ideal for English work with higher KS2 or KS3 pupils, this worksheet provides sufficient material to prepare at least one whole lesson on character status, with follow-up / extension material included. Created by an experienced prep school Head of English, this lesson explores Dickens' use of 'show not tell' to indicate character status in the opening chapter of A Christmas Carol, challenges the children (with prompts and examples) to further consider character status, and then asks the pupils to create their own short sections of writing including character status.

Paragraphs and Direct Speech

Created by an experienced prep school Head of English, this Powerpoint presentation will help children in KS2 and KS3 understand the correct way to set out paragraphs in their writing when using direct speech. With simple instructions and clear examples this presentation will help children grasp the basics (and the complexities!) of getting something right that many children (and adults) find difficult: how and when to start new paragraphs if they are writing direct speech.
