I start with St. Nicholas - history and legends, letter to Father Christmas ideas, clip art for best copy and word search and one page on Advent. Christmas has a list of nativity characters, poetry aid, three journeys, 'How many words can you find in Christmas' and Diary Aid. Epiphany has one page. There are several clip art pictures to use.

Elif Shafak (nee Bigin), born in Strasbourg, France has published 19 works. They have been translated into 55 languages and been nominated for several literacy awards. (See list) She advocated for women’s rights, minority rights and freedom of speech. Her themes include women’s lives, immigration and culture. Joyful Clemantine Wamariya at the age of 6 , with her older sister Claire,was forced to leave her home in Rwanda following the Rwandan Genocide in April. 1994. They went first to their grandparents but they were also targeted. They sought refuge in 7 countries over 6 years until they were granted refugee asylum in the USA in 2000. She began formal schooling at the age of 13. In 2006 she submitted an essay for a national high school contest on Elie Wiesel’s Holocaust Memoir, Night. She won and was invited to go on the Oprah Winfrey show with her sister. To their wonderful surprise their parents, who they knew had survived the genocide,had been flown in from Rwanda. They had spoken on the 'phone but had not seen them for 12 years. After her appearance on the show event organizers, especially in the humanitarian aid sector, have invited her to speak. While at Yale she carried her storytelling across the USA for the United Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM). President Obama in recognition of her work appointer her to the Board. She has since appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show 3 times and her appearances have gained her international attention. She studied comparative literature at Yale University. After university she met Elizabeth Weil. What started as a feature- length article two years later in 2018 resulted in The Girl Who Smiles Beads: A story about War and What comes After. The book became a New York Times best seller Clemantine now works as a human rights advocate fighting for the unprivileged and championing justice.

The River is a place to be enjoyed but it is can also be dangerous. The main clip art picture shows the journey of a river from the source to the sea - labels can be added. There are two vocabularies and three Poetry Aids (two in bold type). There are two clip art pictures for best copy and a short crossword and word search - answers provided. Eight Poetry Aids have been put together - bottom of my garden, birds, farming, in the wood, trees and wild animals of the U.K. and the world. The excellent clip art pictures are by David Woodroffe, an established illustrator.

I have created two sheets which children may like to use during their summer holiday. The first sheet is a Diary idea with lots of Vocabulary and useful phrases. The second sheet is a Poetry Aid which the children may like to use to try and describe the holiday in poetic form. They will also be useful at the beginning of the summer term.

Earthquakes are one of the most destructive natural disasters in the world. The first sheet emphasizes the link between Earthquakes, Tsunami and Volcanoes. The second sheet require the pupil to draw pictures to show slight destruction to ruins. The third sheet gives suggestions for putting the story together, the forth sheet is a vocabulary sheet. A poetry aid and vocabulary to help children put their ideas down about Red Nose Day or Comic Relief. I have differentiated by creating 2 Poetry Aid sheets. i

The first four sheets are all to do with FIRSTS. First into Space -Yuri Gagarin. First Man on the Moon - Neil Armstrong and First Re-usable Spaceship - Columbia. The next sheet is a general vocabulary about space travel followed by thoughts about meeting an alien. There is a crossword/word search/answers and two A5 ‘blank’ sheets for ‘best’ copy. Mae Jemison was the first African-American woman to travel in space when she served as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 1992.

I have created 15 pages of multiple choice questions, with a few homophones, on The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe which I hope will prove useful. In June 2022 I began tutoring a 10 year old English 11+ work. I decided to introduce her to the Narnia stories for the comprehension work. To encourage the child to read I took the famous The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and decided to create some multiple choice work. I have very much linked the work to the book so most of the answers are to be found on the page references I have given to most of the questions. The child was set the homework of reading a chapter(s) and in the tutorial answering the questions - using the page reference as an aid if required. I also wrote the material in TES for T’he Chronicles of Narnia - short crosswords with word search- which has been very well received. Where it says see special sheet it is referring to that material.

have created three word searches about three of William Shakespeare’s plays -Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet plus A Midsummer Night’s Dream. They are based around the characters in each play . Answer sheet provided.

I found this wonderful page depicting Autumn by Mari Friend in a book called *Winter Survival. The picture encouraged me to sort out my Vocabularies on Poetry Aids on Autumn. There is a new Autumn sports vocabulary. I have also created an easier Poetry Aid .

Marguerite Annie Johnson Angelou was an American author, actress, screenwriter, ,dancer, poet and civil rights activist. She is best known for her first memoir I know Why the Caged Bird Sings this was the first nonfiction best seller by an African-American woman. She published 7 autobiographies, 3 books of essays, several books of poetry and is credited with a list of plays, movies and tv. shows spanning 50 years. Her books centre on themes including racism, identity, family and travel. In 1993 she recited her poem ‘On the Pulse of the morning’ at President Bill Clinton’s first inauguration. Black Friday is the last Friday in November. This when firms sell some of their products at a really crazy price. The children might like to pretend that they can buy ALL l their Christmas presents they have dreamed of having. OR they might like to believe their pocket money will be sufficient to buy ALL the presents they want to buy to give to their parents. I have created a list of phrases and a vocabulary to create their dream.

With Wimbledon coming up I have created a phrase and vocabulary sheet all about tennis. There is also a Poetry Aid for those who would like to try to write a poem. There is also a simple word search with an answer sheet.

I have together a selection of Vocabularies and Poetry Aids about Summer plus Clip Art A5 pictures for the ‘best’ copy. I have looked at the beach, caves, cliff hanging, the sea the weather - including rain summer sports and sports day, and looking forward to going on holiday. There are also two word searches. David Woodroffe, an established Illustrator, did all the art work for me.
