I've been teaching English in South Yorkshire for 8 years. I've spent countless hours shuffling text boxes and playing with colour schemes. Please justify this waste of my time.

Students work together on specific characters (Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, the Witches) using resources provided (quotations, context, academic essays) to decide who is responsible for the death of King Duncan. Guidance included on challenge questions to ask when circulating. After this, students present to each other their ideas before returning to their home group to plan a response to the following: “To what extent is Macbeth coerced into killng King Duncan?” Works really well - kids love arguing!

A useful revision resource for refreshing students' memory of literary devices. This was used alongside a random number generator - students completed the sheet, then a random number was selected. This correlated with the terminology - the number chosen was the example students were asked to write. Any feedback is welcome.

'An Inspector Calls' English Lesson

This is a lesson for my mixed-ability Y11s, reviewing some of the key contextual points, thematic elements, plot and themes in 'An Inspector Calls'. It can either be sent to students as a revision resource, or used to revise prior to English exams. It contains animations and sound effects - which helps to ease the pressure for stressed students! The success criteria at the start is based on AQA's Literature mark scheme, but can easily be revised for other learning opportunities. Any feedback is welcome.
