For several years I worked with Easylearn publishers, developing resources for children struggling with English and Maths. I am one of the creators of the Froggy Match-it phonics app, which helps beginner readers to learn to read and spell effectively.

First in a five-book series which is designed for children who need extra support and a small steps approach and which complements any phonics programme. Book 1 provides a good start to learning about grapheme-phoneme correspondence: it concentrates on the letters of the alphabet and their sounds. The three Read and Think books encourage poor readers, especially older pupils, to read sentences and simple texts and understand what they read. Book 1 concentrates on short, simple sentences. Pupils must understand the sentences they read in order to perform the tasks and this ensures text comprehension. The 25 sheets contain a variety of tasks which appeal to a range of pupils, including older, poor readers. Pupils are encouraged to deduce, infer, and interpret information and events. Vocabulary is limited to high-frequency words and the emphasis is on reading: very little writing is required. Previously available through Easylearn.

The pdf consists of 10 worksheets, each with the same format. Children have to identify the odd one out, often a word or picture with a different medial vowel sound, and then write their own words with certain sounds in them.
