This MTP is for 5 weeks to cover the ‘Home learning’ period whilst we are off school due to the Coronavirus outbreak. It is aimed at KS1 but you could easily edit and adapt to suit other year groups. I have tried to add in websites and links where appropriate to help support children and parents working at home. I hope you find this a useful document!

A test analysis from this years KS1 Maths papers against TAF

A selection of different resources and running records/ questions to use when assessing reading at KS1. These are recommended for EXS. These are for the text ‘A squash and a squeeze’ They contain a comprehensive running record document with CEW, multisyllable words etc highlighted as well as comprehension questions. There is also a simple extract of text and some questions which link to the whole text. The story with images and accompanying questions are also included on a Powerpoint if you don’t have the book.

A plan for Y2 and top end of Y1. This is a 3 week Fiction unit of work based on T4W using a skills ladder and modelled text. If you don’t know this story, it is a really good one! There are resources included to help with the teaching and delivery of this unit of work. I have also included flipcharts with various screens to save you time! I also have a Non-Fiction unit of work available on my TES shop so check out my other resources. This unit is perfect for summer term, especially when gathering evidence for possible moderation. You will see in the plan how I have targeted certain children as a focus in certain lessons (XXXX).

Traction Man unit of work for mixed age class - Y1/2. A 3 week Fiction plan, in sessions which can be extended over 2 days or blocked across a whole morning so that you can block other subjects on different days. A 3 week NF plan focussing on Instructions with a Traction Man link. Children learn instructions in a T4W style and then create their own. Resources for lessons included.

A talk for writing based unit, similar to the Little Red Hen. This unit is designed for Y1 but could be easily adapted for Y2. Planning for 2 weeks is included, as well as a variety of resources for the unit. Perfect for the last few weeks of Christmas term. A pack of ‘open a sentence’ resources featuring: -Emotions -Adverbs -Similes -Verbs -Time conjunctions These resources are perfect for uplevelling children’s writing in KS2. Keep together in a pack and challenge the children to use a different one each time.

A toolkit to see, at a glance, what the most common spelling difficulties are in your class. Can be used from EYFS up to KS2. KS3 teachers may wish to use this with struggling pupils to identify their needs and where to pitch support. Poetry Plan 1 week (ideal for use during Y2 SATS week as a fun creative writing exercise) Resources for lessons, including images and worksheets. This is a complete unit of work for a Y1/2 class, aimed at the top end and differentiated. It can easily be made longer or shorter to suit. I have added a few resources that are helpful for some of the lessons, easily editable. We got some great writing from this and there are lots of opportunities for short burst writes and adding writing to your displays. A complete 3 week unit of work for Non-Fiction (for Fiction see my other unit on the Dragon Machine). Based on the book ‘Tell me a Dragon’ and accompanying notes from Pie Corbett (see T4W website- this document is not included but is free to download there) This unit of work is for Y1/2, aimed at the top end of Y2 and differentiated. There are lots of resources, worksheets and flipchart examples included to help support the teaching of this unit. It has a big talk for writing focus and we have produced some fantastic writing as a result. There are lots of writing opportunities built in, not just an end of unit write. You will hopefully get lots of short burst writing of good quality, linked to this text. Easily editable and adaptable to different class sizes, age groups and term length. Combined with my Fiction planning it will cover a whole 5-6 week term.

A running record to assess Y2 children in reading. Contains common exception words, suffix words and multi-syllable words - colour coded. At the end there is a short section with comprehension questions to gather further information regarding the child’s understanding of the text and add comments for evidence gathering. I have trialled this resource with my class this year, assessing them in September and then again in May to show progress.

A running record to help with assessing reading in Y2. This running record extract is from Chapter 1 of George’s Marvellous Medicine. It features common exception words, suffix words and multi-syllable words. There are some comprehension questions at the end for gathering further evidence. I have been using this alongside my other document, The Smartest Giant in Town, to assess my Y2 readers (and some of my top Y1) and gather evidence in case of moderation.

A running record using an extract from ‘Owl Babies’. This is suitable for assessing WTS in KS1 TAF. Could also be used with more able Year 1 children. No comprehension questions included, just the 2 page running record.

A running record with comprehension questions at WTS for KS1 assessment. Suitable for use in Y1/2 and with low ability Y3. The second sheet is a simple typed version for use in whole class guided reading, for text marking etc.
