A teacher for 30 Years in UK, Asia and New Zealand. I have been a Maths, Science and Art specialist and a classroom teacher of children aged 8 to 13 Years. I have also been a boarding house mother. I have a passion for helping children realise they can learn independently and grow their own minds. My favourite video clip to show children is Sir Robert Winton's analogy of learning, when he crosses a ravine and likens it to building bridges between neurons...

Bee Inspired. Bees, flowers, pollination and honey. A Comprehensive unit of work.

(0)
This unit has been written to provide information and activities to help children understand about flowers, bees, pollination and the production of honey. A comprehensive unit with planning, information, activities and links to other resources. 77 pages! The unit is in two parts. ‘Worksheets and Activities’ and ‘Planning and Links’. Although the unit has a science bias there are suggestions for literacy, drama, art and maths. These resources should enable educators to run a comprehensive study on the honeybee and its important role. This could provide a whole term of study and activity. I have tried to ensure the activities are easy to use and resource. They are varied to maintain interest and although they are pitched at an 8 to 12 Year old level they can easily be modified for both younger and older children. Each activity has a teacher sheet (T) and a corresponding student sheet (S) which are numbered. This unit can be used in its entirety or parts can be extracted and used and children’s interest supported using other resources. The links offer a vast amount of extra information, resources and activities. They were all accessible at the time of producing this unit. I hope this unit inspires you and your students to find out more about the magical balance in nature and the importance of these special honeybees. Clara Vee
