structure and bonding - revision cards

(0)
This resource is in the form of revision cards which students cut out and glue the answer on one side and the question on the other. e.g. a molecule with a trigonal planar shape on one side and the words trigonal planar on the other side. They can then use the cards they create as a revision tool either in pairs or individually. Placing the cards face down and working out what is on the other side of the card.

Chemical Bonding - thinking exercise

(0)
A plenary to let students think about how different elements combine in chemical bonding. In the form of a power point presentation. Linked to chemical bonding in senior chemistry. The students have to consider how electrons are either shared or taken in a chemical bond.

This lesson involves students examining the process of photosynthesis through a digital presentation followed by an assessment to show understanding. The lesson is in the form of a office sway presentation outline the equations involved in photosynthesis which can be accessed by following the link code below: https://sway.com/AMwIw4CTClvQrmZK
Forces revision game

Forces revision game

(0)
This is a useful revision resource around forces and Newtons equations of motion. The activity consists of students cutting out and creating a series of cards. The students then work in groups of 3 - 4 to attempt to compete the task set on the cards. The fastest group wins. The task is 'I have, who has' Each card has a definition (I have) and also a question (who has) one student reads out a question (who has) and other students respond with the answer (I have) based on what cards they have in front of them. If the answer is correct then they read out the question on their card. The game is completed when all definitions are answered by the group.

Rate of reaction trading cards

Excellent revision tool for rates of reaction. In pairs, students cut out both sides of the cards and glue them together. Then as one asks the question the other tries to answer it. If you get an answer right, you keep the card. The one with the most cards wins! Designed for KS4 Chemistry.
Chemistry-Trionimoes

Chemistry-Trionimoes

(0)
This activity is similar to dominoes, just this time with 3 sides! The students cut out the trionimoes and try and build shapes by match sides to each other. The game has three levels of difficulty depending on the level of students. Questions are based on atomic structure and bonding as well as the periodic table
Ionic Jig saw

Ionic Jig saw

(1)
This activity develops students understanding of balancing charges in ionic salts. The students print out the activity, cut out the shapes and the recombine to determine the formulae of different ionic salts by balancing charge and making sure jigsaw is correct. Designed for KS3 and KS4 Science.

Rates of Reaction

(0)
This activity is divided into 4 parts each activity involved one of the components of rates of reactions - size, concentration, temperature and catalysts. The activity involves graphing data and then explaining the plot using rates of reaction theory. Students graph data and then apply this information to collision theory to explain observed data. The activity also includes hint sheets to assist students.
Angry birds - projectile motion

Angry birds - projectile motion

(1)
This lesson involves using angry birds as a context to develop understanding of projectile motion and the affect of gravity on objects. The lesson is in 3 parts: Part one is notes and questions to test student understanding of projectile motion including breaking down the horizontal and vertical components of this motion. Part two then introduces the concept of gravity acting on an object and how mass and distance from objects changes the force of gravity. Part three is an activity where students apply their knowledge of projectile motion to design a new angry bird.
