Computing/ICT KS3 Scheme of Work + Full Resources!

(2)
Looking to revitalise your KS3 schemes but haven’t got the time? I have created a full set of resources for Year 7, 8 and 9 Computing. Included is 18 projects (one per half term) designed to keep ICT / Computing engaging and Interesting as well as improve uptake for options. Each project includes a full set of lesson PowerPoints, starters, plenaries, differentiation and assessment. The PowerPoints are created with a corporate theme and can be picked up and delivered by almost anybody! Students complete work using the digital workbook, all tasks marry up to the teacher slides perfectly. Lessons have been updated to include assessment sheets within the student workbook, giving ownership to students to complete self or peer assessment EVERY lesson. Homework booklets can be printed. Homework is designed to be project-based and should be set once per half term. Students should spend 2 hours completing each task in the booklet (no need for ICT equipment). Summative assessment is included in the form of Socrative tests which the students complete at the end of each project. SOC numbers are provided - just create a FREE account and import the quizzes. Socrative enables students to complete questions online with the results being sent directly to the teacher - NO MARKING REQUIRED! The resource is designed for 1 lesson per week but could be easily adapted or expanded to suit different needs. The work is protected under the Creative Commons license. Adapt as you see fit but do not sell it on for profit! Thanks for looking.
Boom Classroom Computing Display

Boom Classroom Computing Display

This is my BOOM display. It is designed to be an interactive display where students can complete tasks around (such as starters). It also creates a bit of a 'wow' factor when visitors check out your classroom. It is ideally printed on A3 directly from Adobe Fireworks. It will print across 6 sheets of A3 and will then need cutting out and sticking together very carefully. Inside the PowerPoint are all the computer components that I recently used but you can change these or add more (up to you!). Then simply slice some black border roll and create a visually appealing display which students love.
Python Scheme of Work

Python Scheme of Work

(1)
This is a Python scheme of work designed for either half a term or a full term depending on the level of ability of students. Within this resource is 9 PowerPoints each with a printable worksheet designed to allow students to progress independently. Some Homework tasks have also been included to help stretch students. Each worksheet is designed to be printed in color allowing students to easily identify which segments of the worksheet they can use within their code. (they can also be used electronically to avoid printing) Although there is 9 lessons contained within this resource, the time it takes you will vary. Year 10 and 11 students may complete this in a half term quite comfortably, whereas, Key Stage 3 might work at the problems more slowly with more help and support from the teacher.

Cryptography Challenge

(2)
A fun and engaging resource for 11-18 year olds. This resource can be used over a series of lessons or used as a whole-school competition. Simply share the PowerPoint with the students and they can start cracking the codes. Included in the resource is: > Stand-alone PowerPoint with introduction, explanation and tasks > Graphics used to make each task > Solutions to each task This task has been used and completed by a range of age groups in secondary school with little or no support. Students generally worked in small groups to independently complete each challenge. TOP TIP Upload each task one by one onto the school VLE and give students a time limit to complete each task. Rewards for successfully deciphering as they go.

Networking (topologies)

This lesson aims to teach students about a range of networking topics within a single hour! The lesson includes a range of resources, lesson plan, extension activity, work sheets, videos, helpful links for students and a starter activity. Within the resource is a full explanation of how to use this. The aim is to divide students into groups who each learn about a specific networking topic (security, classifications, LAN&WAN, hardware and servers. Within each group students will also learn about the topologies. Once they complete the task sheet, students can be re-arranged into a new groups and snowball their knowledge across. Finally students complete an independent task following by a plenary which fully reinforces the learning. This was used for an interview lesson deemed 'outstanding' by all observers. Was used and made for a mixed ability Year 9 group but could be used across KS4 easily! Have fun!
