The resources I make and provide require the students to have good imaginations! I try to encourage teaching through the use of battles in fantasy environments or cold war spy related environments. Also students are expected to think outside the box with some of the problems which include cipher breaking or real life science problems. I Hope you enjoy the resources and please spread the good word!

Dear All, I have created a wonderful, if not terrifying world called Newtonia! Within Newtonia there are beasts and people of all different races who attempt to live in such a world of fantasy. This game is a resource which can be used in questioning and allows students to find their inner geek as well! Students are the gladiators, you (the teacher) are the Pit Master, the students fight each other through answering questions…but the Pit Master does have a few tricks up their sleeve! This is an interactive game and presently levelled for KS3 Science or Maths. The question packs have a selection on both subjects and cover several topics. You can of course, make your own cards to add further differentiation or variety. This game has also been used for SEN (autism), who enjoyed it very much!

Hello! Here is an activity which could invigorate revision or work on the larger 6 mark exam questions used in A-level Physics. Physics Spy Interrogation is an activity which has students sort themselves into groups of 3 and act out as cold war spies and interrogators. The spy takes a card from a person in a specific area of physics and has to answer a series of in depth questions on that specific area. They switch and take turns and the winner has the most points. This will help students answer large mark questions to the fullest!

They must decipher the coded message and answer the questions but there is a twist!

This is one of the best resources I have ever designed! It follows the story of Dr Daniel Hayles and starts with an anonymous letter sent to your students…they come to lesson not knowing what is about to happen! On their desks is a simple box or envelope per group…they must use their problem solving skills to the fullest in this intriguing and absorbing task. They will look at forensic Physics, Linear Dynamics, code deciphering, IT and logical problem solving. The students are Dr Hayles’ best hope…can your students do it! Physics covered: Principle of Momentum and energy, ballistic pendula, speed and forensic drag factors and circular motion. Mathematics covered: Mechanics, formulae manipulation, bifid and Mexican Army Cipher Discs deciphering.
