Hi, I've been teaching secondary English for nearly 20 years and have experience of OCR, AQA and WJEC GCSEs in Language and Literature. I have also taught GCSE Film Studies. I actually really enjoy creating new resources with a particular focus on creativity and engaging learners as much as I can in an enjoyment of English as well as making progress.

A complete lesson in which learners work in groups to investigate one of a selection of "unsellable" products using De Bono's Thinking Hats. They then work as a team to use persuasive techniques to write and present an advert for their product. This has worked very well for a lesson observation with KS4 but is easily adapted for KS3. Grade criteria included is for WJEC but, again, can be adapted to include any exam board. Lesson plan, power point and all resources are included.

A group work and creative writing lesson based on the idea of investigating the paranormal activities reported at Lorraine Castle (The Red Room by H.G. Wells). Using the Mantle of the Expert, learners play the parts of paranormal investigators and work in teams to explore and report back on the different areas of the castle. This builds towards a creative writing piece where each individual is parted from their team by a complication and they retell the story of what happens next. This was developed and used as a very successful lesson observation. Pack includes lesson plan, power point and all resources. Lesson can be further supplemented by the addition of props from each area of the castle - I can't supply those though!

A scheme of work developed as part of the cross-curricular Forgotten Soldiers project looking at individuals from different cultures and religions who fought for the Allies during WW1 and 2. Two units of work are included: one looks at WW1 poetry as part of a creative writing task on the theme of 'Boots'; the other focuses on key individuals aiming to build awareness of the contributions of people from other ethnic groups towards the war effort.
