A two/three week unit on information writing all about insects. Includes a model text about a Grasshopper, planning and lesson slides, (POWERPOINT AND ACTIV INSPIRE) Children will learn the model text using the picture map, before practicing how to create a great title, question hooks and using planning and research templates to create their own.

A creative and engaging Talk For Writing unit that produces fantastic innovated letters as the end point! Includes planning lesson slides (Active Inspire and Powerpoint) model text and picture map, lesson resources and comprehension questions. Children will learn the features of persuasive writing, vocabulary for emotions, rhetorical questions, the effect of short sentences, apostrophes for contraction, connective sentence starters. They will then adapt the model text to write a letter from an alternative classroom object that has an issue with something! Enjoy!

A complete 4 week unit on diary writing using Paddington as the hook! Paddington goes to the palace and writes about it in his diary! POWERPOINT SLIDES NOW INCLUDED Includes planning, lesson slides, model text and picture map, lesson resources and word banks. Children will learn about the features of diary writing, first person and past tense writing, time connectives, proper nouns, connectives and adjectives to describe settings and feelings. A complete 3/4 week unit on castle setting descriptions using the five senses as a focus. This is a magical and engaging unit which promotes lovely descriptive writing with a focus on adjectives and noun phrases. Includes planning, lesson slides (Powerpoint and Active Inspire) model texts and picture map and all lesson resources. Children will learn what a setting is, the five senses, parts of castle, adjectves and alliteration before designing their own castles and creating plans for their own writing, adapting the model text to create their own setting description. A fun and engaging Year 1 3 week T4W unit using Pokemon cards as hook to write simple character descriptions. My class LOVED this and wrote great sentences. At the end, we shrunk their work down to make real Pokemon cards. Includes: Lesson plans, lesson slides (Activ Inspire and Powerpoint), model text and lesson resources. The main focus is using a capital letter and full stop and simple adjectives to create great sentences. Children will learn the model text, a brand new Pokemon, before generating lots of ideas and practicing writing sentences of their own. Children will then design their own pokemon and use the planning format to write their own.
