Macbeth Unit - Act 1

Macbeth Unit - Act 1

Macbeth unit covering Act 1 of the play. 50 pages in total. In PDF, so you can print it off and bind how you want it, or use as individual worksheets in the order you prefer. (I use plastic folders which 'grip' the pages and keep them in place and secure, but other methods of binding are available. HUGE resource compiled to save you time... Contents - * Opening scene question sheet (longer written response questions). * Lost the plot?? (worksheet). * Who am I?? (worksheet). * Shakespearean language v's modern language (handout.) * Shakespearean phrases (highlighting task). * Meet the characters (character profiles and illustrations they can colour in). * Irony (handout). * Discussion sheet (prompts for class discussion). * Quiz (multiple choice/true/false questions). * Main events (bullet point handout). * Unit project (an ongoing task for the unit). * Journal prompt (for their chosen project). * Answer sheets. Suggestions for using this resource - The workbook is designed to be used alongside study of the text of Macbeth. The activities assess students' learning and understanding of the play using multiple choice/true/false questions as well as longer, more in-depth questions. There are also helpful handouts included which students can refer back to whilst studying the rest of the play. The discussion questions involve the whole class in engaging deeper with the play. You can use the resources in a different order to the one suggested. You can also 'cherry pick' which resources from the workbook you feel will work best with your students or you can adapt them further. The unit project is an on-going journal in which the students have to decide which Elizabethan profession they are in. From this, they will fill in relevant quotes/details from the play as they progress through it. This project encourages them to focus on the text and events. A journal prompt is included to start their journals off. Other workbooks covering the rest of the play will be available soon.

Macbeth (Adapted) Act 2 and activities

Macbeth (Adapted) Act 2 and activities

Macbeth - A specially adapted version of Macbeth - Act 2 and activities. I wanted to adapt Macbeth so that Special Ed students could study - and enjoy the play. I have kept the plot, character motivation, scenes etc, but it's in simplified language. Because of this, the resource is also ideal for ANY student studying the play as it simplifies the plot so they can understand what's happening and compare it with the difficult to read Elizabethan original. It will be easier for them to grasp what happens in each scene then as the language is always difficult for anyone reading the play. It's therefore also suitable for GCSE students, adult literacy classes and ESOL classes. This is a complete unit of study of Act 2. (The rest of the acts will follow soon). This resource includes - * 22 power point slides (illustrated) with the adapted text of Macbeth. * A short answer reading comprehension quiz, covering all 4 scenes of act 2 (multiple choice, true/false, missing word). * Answer sheet. * X2 word search activities. * Lost the plot?? activity. * Activity sheet - Invent a word. * Activity sheet - Write a newspaper front page activity. * Handout - PDF of presentation slides to print off. * Role play activity. * Peer performance record sheet. * Self evaluation sheet. * Handout - recap of Act 2 - Some questions to think about.

Santa's Untidy Elves - A Christmas Activity lesson

Santa's Untidy Elves - A Christmas activity lesson, specially for the festive season. Activities focus on reading and writing skills. It's Christmas Eve and Santa's elves have been so busy baking cookies to go on Santa's sleigh, they haven't mopped up the spilled milk. Elfon the elf, doesn't see the milk on the floor and he slips. No one sees some of the dough go into a strange bowl ... Teaching suggestions - The story is in presentation format and is illustrated. Read through the presentation slides as a class first. Next, they can do the reading comprehension quiz, followed by the creative writing activity. You could use pieces the class produces to display up in the classroom over the festive season. They can also colour in the black and white illustrations on the handouts. A Christmas Carol lesson 5, stave 3 GCSE AQA 9-1

A Christmas Carol lesson 5 from my scheme of work which is available separately. GCSE AQA 9-1. Resources include - * Character profile - Jacob Marley. * Character profile - Fan. * Character profile - Belle. * Character profile - Fred. * Activity sheet - In pairs, write a scene where Scrooge and Fan are discussing life at home. Act out scenes. Suggestions - I brainstorm the characters first as a class before giving out the hand outs. Discuss how each of these characters plays a part in shaping the Scrooge we fist meet ie - grief, loneliness etc. For the activity sheet, guide students towards thinking what was going on behind the scenes in Scrooge's family home as a child. For example, where was their mother? Did she die? Everyone Scrooge has loved, he has lost. Even his only friend died. Encourage students to explore the reasons behind Scrooge's isolation. They can fictionalise the scene as long as it is in keeping with the story/characters.
