SroneAge- lesson 2

Lesson 2 explores the red lady of Paviland. It aims to help children understand how the evidence of the Red Lady of Paviland builds a picture of what life was like during the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic periods. The children activity is to recreate what they think the red lady of Paviland would have looked like from the evidence, there are two variations of the sheet, the one with the picture is designed for pre-key stage children. The other is for everyone, using adaptive teaching a the pedagogical approach, children can use the knowledge they have attained from the lesson to support them as well as the information sheets that can be given to each table as a reminder. For more adaptive ideas, children could also have word mats or EAL sheets to support (These are not included in this resource but as suggestive ideas for you).

Lesson 6 of 6. This lesson looks at different volcanoes around the world, recaps on advantages and disadvantages of living near a volcano. The children will use the fact file sheets and given websites (linked at the bottom of the fact file) to research different countries with volcanoes on them. Fact files have been designed with relation to the given websites which are linked at the bottom of the slides (on the powerpoint version of worksheets)

What's beneath my feet? Lesson 1 Tectonic Plates

(0)
Lesson 1 out of 6. This unit looks at the earth’s movements and specifically volcanoes. This lesson dives into tectonic plates, their movements and continental drift theory to help children conceptualise that the plates beneath our feet are always moving. There are lots of activities within the lesson to engage the children. You will require soil/sand for one activity as the children will dig for fossils like Wegener did to explain continental drift.

StoneAge - Lesson 3 Neolithic period

WALT understand the significance of the Neolithic Revolution. The children will explore that this was a time of great change - in fact so much changed that it is now called the Neolithic Revolution. Using Skara Brea as an example look at how these early farmers were living. Create a fact file or diagram of the Skara Brea village that shows the gathered information. Finish the lesson by asking the children • What stayed the same between the Paleo/ Meso and Neolithic periods of time? • What is different between the Paleo/ Meso and Neo periods of time? The pedegogy is adaptive teaching so the task is the same, questions are adapted per sheet. The first sheet is designed for your pre key stage children.

Guided Reading Carousel Activities

**Guided Reading Carousel ** This planning has been designed for a 5 group rotation. Group 1 is a phonic group so planning is not provided for that due to schemes for schools. The other 4 groups are completely planned for based from 3 books: Grandpa comes to stay Dilly the Dinosaur The Julian Stories Within the resource pack you will find: PDF documents with guidance, and questions sheets for each book. Daily Planning Slides to support use and the carousel. Guided Reading Record Sheets Group 1 is a phonic group. I use a phonic scheme for this with my school so I have therefore not been able to share those resources for you. I have left this group on the plan as a full class would require 5 groups. Hopefully you can use and edit as you wish. Guided Reading Record Sheets You should find questions sheets with the reading domains and linked questions next to it. These are saved as weekly PowerPoints. This is for your reading folder documentation and assessment during the guided group reading with the teacher. You can use this to mark off who was able to answer what question, and assess children’s fluency in the different domains. There are 5 of these as on week 6 there will not be any Guided Reading sessions with the teacher as term comes to an end.

Continents and Oceans Activity

(0)
This resource is for children learning the continents and oceans. It is set out as a map with the continents in shadow form. The children then have to stick the continents and seas onto the map in the correct places, using the shadows as guidance. I laminated mine and used velcro tabs to make it a reusable activity for the children. This activity is a great way to develop memory skills, as well as an ability to plan, test ideas and solve problems. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMN7bTxoN/ tiktok link is above
