A KS3 History lesson focused on life in Prehistoric Britain up until the Anglo-Saxon invasion. Students will look at stone age, bronze age and iron age Britain with emphasis placed on the Celts and the Romans as influential settlers in British History. The Anglo-Saxons and Vikings are then introduced ahead of the 1066 scheme of learning. There are a number of comprehension tasks for students to complete throughout the lesson.

A KS3 History lesson that focuses on life in England during the time of the Anglo-Saxons. Students will investigate England pre-1066; looking at who ruled the country, how many people lived here, religion and how wealth was generated through trade. This lesson is a perfect start for students before looking at the chaotic events of 1066. There are a number of comprehension questions for students to answer at the end of the lesson.

A KS3 History lesson that looks at the succession crisis after the death of Edward the Confessor. Students will review each of the 3 claimants to the throne (Godwinson, Hardrada and William). Students will then be tasked with deciding who is best equipped to run the country in 1066.

A KS3 History lesson that reviews life at 3 different time periods over the last 100 years. Students will first look at life at the turn of the century (1900) before reviewing similar information for life in 1950. Finally students will then look at life today. There are a number of comprehension tasks for students to complete as you work through the lesson.

2 KS3 lessons on the topic of Terrorism. Students will begin by learning the definition of terrorism before delving into how the USA have suffered terrorist attacks and why this might be. The second part of the lesson looks at the different tactics used by terrorists and how we might combat and defeat terrorism. There are checkpoints for students to answer comprehension questions within the lesson.

A KS3 lesson on Multinational Companies. Students will investigate the story of McDonald’s and how it rose to fast food fame. Students will then access the impact of these companies and how they may have negative consequences for communities across the globe. There are a number of comprehension questions for students to complete at the end of the lesson.

2 KS3 History lessons focusing on independence movements in Africa during the 20th century. In the first lesson, students will look at colonial Africa and independent Africa before assessing treatment of Africans by their European rulers. The second lesson will see a number of named independence movements mentioned and possible problems facing newly independent countries in regard to control and power. There are two checkpoints to challenge students’ comprehension skills.

2 KS3 History lessons centred on Indian Independence. This powerpoint is split into two sections. In the first, students will look at British colonial rule of India and how India, its people and resources, are used by the British. The second section looks at the quest for freedom within India, personified by the words and actions of Gandhi, as well as partition of India into India and Pakistan. There are two checkpoints for students to answer comprehension questions.

A KS3 History/Citizenship lesson on how immigration has impacted Britain. Students will look at a variety of locations and how/why people travelled from these locations to live and work in Britain after the Second World War. There are a number of comprehension questions at the end of the lesson for students to work through.

A KS3 History lesson on the Empire Windrush. Students will look at the context for immigration from the West Indies to Britain and the treatment of the immigrants upon their arrival. There are a few first hand accounts of immigrants to analyse. Students will then answer comprehension questions at the end of the lesson.

A KS3 History lesson that focuses on the effects of multiculturalism on Britain. Students will look at how healthcare, food, sport and the arts have all been impacted due to multiculturalism. Students will then be challenged with a series of comprehension questions at the end of the lesson.

2 KS3 History lessons that centres on the moon landings. Students will focus on source analysis in both lessons; firstly addressing sources that discredit the landings and claim they are a hoax. The second uses sources that aim to prove that the landings were real. A report type task is present at the end of the second lesson where students are asked to present a balanced response before a opinionated conclusion on what the student thinks is true and why.

A KS3 History lesson on the European Union. Students will investigate the situation post-Second World War and understand the reasoning behind more co-operation within the European sphere. Students will be shown the history of the European Union and be challenged at the end of the lesson with some comprehension questions.

A KS3 History lesson on the Cold War. Students will look at what the situation was after the Second World War, how the Soviet Union and USA differed in terms of ideology, past and future vision. Mutually assured destruction and nuclear armament is covered in the lesson. There are a number of checkpoints in the lesson where students understanding is challenged.

A KS3 History lesson centred on the creation of the NHS after the Second World War. Students will look at sources as to why people supported the idea of free healthcare as well as how the government was to fund such a revolutionary method of medical care. There are a number of checkpoints throughout the lesson where students’ understanding can be challenged.

A KS3 History lesson centred on the events leading to the outbreak of the Second World War. Students will investigate Hitler’s aims and methods for achieving them, Germany’s first movements before war is declared as well as the British attempts at preventing a second, large-scale European war (appeasement). There are two checkpoints in the lesson where students are challenged to display their understanding.

3 KS3 History lessons based on life inside Hitler’s Nazi Germany. Lesson one will approach how Hitler came to power and the laws he changed to persecute the Jewish population. Lesson two will focus on children and their role within Hitler’s vision for a prosperous German future. Lesson three centres on women, Nazi incentives and propaganda. All 3 lessons have comprehension questions to challenge students at the end of the lesson.

A KS3 History lesson centred on the life of Adolf Hitler; from childhood to becoming the leader of Germany. Students will be given a variety of sources that show the character and life experiences of Adolf Hitler: childhood and school life in Austria, being a young man with artistic ambition in Vienna, soldier in the first world war and finally political activist and prisoner before his rise to fame. There are two checkpoints within the lesson where students’ comprehension is checked.

A KS3 History/Citizenship lesson centred on Tolerance. Students will understand the definition of tolerance, the benefits and everyday examples of tolerance and historical examples of those who have fought against intolerance. A class discussion on tolerance present within your classroom is presented as a plenary at the end of the lesson.

A KS3 History/Citizenship lesson based on Persecution. Students will understand the definition of persecution, look at modern/historical examples of persecution (focus on Civil Rights) and the impact persecution has. There is an exit ticket activity to end the lesson which is an interesting way of solidifying new knowledge from the lesson.
