Sociology Research Methods Paper 1 and 3 Flipped Learning Resource. 57 slides of engaging and challenging research methods work to prepare sociology students for paper 1 and paper 3. These resources are best used with the AQA textbook or Tutor2u Research Methods companion where students complete reading for homework then these lessons are used to test their understanding in class with teacher support. This series will cover around 4-5 lessons worth of content. All students in the class will be engaged - perfect for a lesson observation due to level of participation and engagement required by students.

Functionalist theories of crime including: Durkheim Merton Subcultural theories (Cohen, Cloward and Ohlin) AO2 application of all of the functionalist theories to the 2011 London Riots. These lessons are part of a wider set of resources which covers the whole course so please check that out if you want additional resources. These resources were used to secure 100% A*-C grades. Last cohort achieved 44% A*/A grades - well above the national average.

AQA Sociology full resource for Crime and Deviance. 22 powerpoints with engaging and challenging content - questions and activities on every slide. These lessons are planned in relation to the Browne Sociology for A Level Volume 2 book. There are also links to articles and some references to a Crime and Deviance “topic companion” which is from Tutor2u (highly recommended) but I cannot upload that for copyright reasons. There is also a reference to an article from a Sociology journal, which again I do not own so cannot upload but an article about environmental racism/smog as democratic could substitute this if you don’t have access to the Sociology Exchange Journals. I have numbered the resources in the order I teach them in but adapt these as you see fit. All links to articles are subject to them being available e.g. on the BBC news website, periodically these may need to be updated or changed for more contemporary examples.
