Pirates and Mermaids Class Assembly/Show - Suitable for KS1

My reception class had to do a class assembly in line with our theme - pirates and mermaids. I wrote a script all about a pirate treasure hunt and what 'treasure' really is - we should treasure friendship more than jewels and gold. 7 pirates go on a quest to find a treasure chest which happens to be in Ibiza! In Ibiza, they meet some Spanish pirates who have the Jolly Rodger flag on their ship. The pirates all work together to look for the treasure and come across some sea creatures and mermaids. The mermaids offer the pirates a treasure full of gold or something special that would bring them all together as friends. The pirates choose the special chest which has our class pet inside! A lot of hard work went into this assembly script and presentation and I hope that someone else can enjoy it! This pack contains: * the full script and costume ideas * a PowerPoint presentation with animation and music - all set up to play. Faces of the children can be added to animated pirate bandanas and mermaid tails (as seen in cover image) * music to run along side (although this music is already loaded onto the PowerPoint) * Letters home to parents to request costumes and attendance to the show

THE GREATEST SHOW! - A CLASS WORK ASSEMBLY WITH A CIRCUS THEME AND LINKS TO THE GREATEST SHOWMAN! **THIS IS THE CLASS ASSEMBLY THAT CAUGHT THE EYE OF HUGH JACKMAN! HE SENT US A GOOD LUCK MESSAGE! - YOU MAY HAVE SEEN ON THE NEWS! FOLLOW THE LINK BELOW TO SEE MORE OR WATCH US ON THE NEWS ON BBC POINTS WEST 6.6.18 ** https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-gloucestershire-44382007 A class assembly/play we did with our reception class (could be adapted/added to for other year groups). We did this with a Reception class - they were incredible! It ran alongside our ‘Circus’ theme. We focussed lots on The Greatest Showman and the song ‘This is Me’ - this is the main song in the assembly. The assembly is very much about the circus with links to The Greatest Showman, but uses some other songs too, eg: break free - Queen. See below for a more detailed outline. I’ve included the script, presentation (which includes all music) and some costume letters to be sent home. I added photos of the children to the slide show which made it even better. The slide show has all been set up and the timings suited us. We had such great feedback from this class assembly! I hope you enjoy it! please note: this did run alongside what we were learning at school in reception class, so please see the outline below. **(Children enter to the beginning of the Greatest Show music) Section 1 - acrobats (greatest showman backing music) Section 2 - should animals be used in a circus? Section 3 - strong men (linking to having a ‘strong mind’) Section 4 - clowns Section 5 - How should we treat people who are different to us? (This is Me song) Section 6 - Finale (to the rest of the Greatest Show music) (SEE MAIN IMAGE FOR REAL PREVIEW! -The font and pics look a little weird in the TES preview pics? But it’s actually all done in Comic Sans! I did have it all in pre-cursive, but knew that some schools wouldn’t have this font, so changed it all to Comic Sans. Hopefully it should be in that font when you download!)**
