This is a homework designed to consider and identify the changes in recording formats since 1950. It has been used as part of the ASO4 Popular Music focus for Eduqas GCSE Music. Quick homework which has raised some interesting questions and introduced learners to some varying recording formats and consider the recent "Vinyl Revolution!" The document is in PDF format and contains two slides. One to identify recording format images. The second sheet asks details and information regarding each format as well as some thought provoking questions as to why some formats have succeeded and some have failed! Final document includes general answers to format identification and dates introduced.

This is a really straightforward document that we have been using with our new year 10s, so that they can develop some simple research skills and familiarize themselves with the suggested styles from RSL. All styles included with spaces for students to make a note of prolific tracks, albums and dates when they actually happened. This document is meant to encourage students to listen to a range of styles which will allow them to make informed decisions on their two final areas for their actual task. I’m uploading as a PowerPoint so that you can all edit for convenience. You could set this on a digital platform for students to edit or print out. Hopefully this will be really useful right now. Stay strong! Helen

EDUQAS GCSE Music Student Composition Log 2018 -2019.

This is a Powerpoint document that I’m using with my GCSE Music class this year. It’s designed to allow students to keep a digital record of their composition progress in line with the three monitoring checks required by Eduqas. I wanted to have a document that would allow students to update easily and store within the local shared area. It’s uploaded here as a Powerpoint document so that you can edit it yourself to suit your learner’s needs. The document covers both compositions and references the current briefs set by Eduqas. Once all compositions are completed this information can be copied across to the official paperwork. Hopefully you will find it useful!

(3)
Eduqas GCSE Music 9 -1 (from September 2016). This is a full analysis grid for one of the set works : Since You Been Gone (Rainbow/ Ballard) 1979. This has TWO slides. The first is blank for your own revision / review the second is fully annotated with full detail. The complete musical elements for EDUQAS are covered with full detail for each section of this song. There is, perhaps, a little more detail than required but this may prove useful for your high achieving learners. Small update - terminology change from bridge to pre chorus.

This is a powerpoint document with 62 slides that show how a MAJOR scale is built. There is a demonstration of C Major showing the tones and semi tones with two further activities building G major and finally D Major. Scales are built up step by step showing clearly on the keyboard diagram and reinforcing the tone and semitone steps. This is intended to be simple and straightforward as an introduction to major scales. I have used this for both Key Stage 3 and 4.
