A PowerPoint lesson introducing children to Advent and exploring the symbolism behind it. The slides will take your pupils on an exciting journey exploring the origins of Advent and what makes it important to Christians.

There are 3 activities included in the lesson:
1. Sequencing the story of Jesus' birth.

There is an independent worksheet that asks the children to circle the symbols of Advent and write a paragraph describing their feelings (anticipation) during the season.

A matching card game activity for pupils studying states of matter. Put the larger states of matter cards face down on the table, scatter the statements cards around. Children take turns picking up two cards, if they match - they keep the card. The game continues until all of the cards are gone.

I have created these to remind the children of what the subordinating conjunctions (or connectives) are. They are shaped as cute pencils which can be laminated, cut out and displayed on your SPaG or English board.
