This resource can be used as a visual aid to support students with their phonics. The power point can be used by showing the first slide to the students on an interactive white board and pressing on either the pictures or sounds to practice handwriting. Here is a five piece story map i used with my year 1 and 2 class to retell the story of Rapunzel. I put this on my working wall. This helped them to sequence a story before completing a big write . I have also attached a speech worksheet to help support the children with there writing.

Here are two story maps one of the story and the other to show a change in setting and characters. I used these with my year 1/2 class and they worked great to help them re-tell and adapt a story. The additional worksheets were used to show the children how they could change different parts.

Here is the story map i used with my class to help teach the story Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. At the end of the teaching sequence the children completed an assessed independent write changing parts of the story, such as the animal or the transport used to travel. My class loved seeing the story maps on the wall to decorate our classroom and constantly retold the story. I have also added some extra worksheets i used to help build up writing skills and sentence structure with my class before they completed their big write.
