I have included the breif planning and all lesson resources I used with my SEN students for the story book- The cook and the King by Juila Donaldson. Here are two story maps one of the story and the other to show a change in setting and characters. I used these with my year 1/2 class and they worked great to help them re-tell and adapt a story. The additional worksheets were used to show the children how they could change different parts.

Here is a range of activities which I have put together on a slide which can be used as quick morning starters for KS1/ Late reception children. Here is the story map i used with my class to help teach the story Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. At the end of the teaching sequence the children completed an assessed independent write changing parts of the story, such as the animal or the transport used to travel. My class loved seeing the story maps on the wall to decorate our classroom and constantly retold the story. I have also added some extra worksheets i used to help build up writing skills and sentence structure with my class before they completed their big write. Thank you for downloading if you find the time please leave a review. How to use: These were designed to be made into keyrings however can be used for a display. I use these with a poppet style/ fidget pencil case to support a child in my class. To make the keyring version I reduced the sheets down from A4 to A5. These can be laminated back-to-back and the child can use a whiteboard pen with these to help support when they are in the different zones. Please select the yellow zone you feel would suit your child more. For the feel card version, I brought some sensory stickers to place onto the reverse part of the card. The purple box is highlighted on each card to show which activity is on the back of the card. I also used a split pin for the arrow on the front zone of regulation colourful card so the child can show how they are feeling throughout the day.

Here is the story map I used in school to help my children retell and change the story Beegu. Here are a few worksheets i used to teach more and less than and adding and subtracting 10 on a 100 square. I gave the children a white board each during the teacher input and they enjoyed guessing the numbers. Many thanks for downloading.

Here is a five piece story map i used with my year 1 and 2 class to retell the story of Rapunzel. I put this on my working wall. This helped them to sequence a story before completing a big write . I have also attached a speech worksheet to help support the children with there writing.
