I'm currently employed as a Subject Leader of Religious Education, Philosophy and Ethics at an outstanding grammar school. I am currently reading a PhD in Philosophy, having obtained an MA in Philosophy of Religion and and a BA in Philosophy. The resources I create and sell are those I use myself. I aim for my lessons to include a range of activities and for students to not only learn about my subject, but find doing so interesting.

Logic - Validity and Soundness

This lesson is the first of five lessons on logic. Though designed as a sequence, each lesson can be taught without the others. The scheme of work was designed for a particularly gifted year 8 set however, would definitely be suitable for older age groups. This lesson introduces students to the concept of logical thinking, in particular the recognition of invalid, valid and sound arguments. By then end of the lesson, students should be able to create their own valid and sound arguments. Please leave a review for this lesson.

This sequence of five lessons is designed to introduce logical thinking to students. The sequence of work was designed for a particularly gifted year 8 set however, would definitely be suitable for older age groups. By the end of the sequence students should be able to create valid arguments, both in Modus Ponens and Modus Tollens forms, convert complext statements into modal and propositional logic, and recognise common logical fallacies. Philosophy for Children (Logic and Ethics)

10 Resources
This Bundle includes two different lessons sequences, one on Logic and one on Ethic, and easily includes enough content to take up a term of lessons at one hour a week. Once the students have completed the sequences, they should have a sophisticated understanding of the different ethical theories included, and a strong working knowledge of logical argument. The lessons were designed for a very gifted KS3 set however, I’ve also used them for KS4 RE Core lessons.
