A timeline activity for context is also included. Originally planned for an Cambridge International AS group, this could easily be adapted for other syllabuses and age groups. This lesson focuses on a revisit to chapter 6 and asks students to consolidate their understanding of setting, paying particular attention to the novel's portrayal of ThrushCross Grange. The lesson includes close language analysis of chapter 6, questions for discussion/response and a starter based around the connotations of names.

Written for the Cambridge A2 English Language Paper 3. Included are a knowledge organiser for final revision as well as revision starters. The card-sort revision requires students to place the key terms in either useful for written extracts or transcripts.

Planned for Cambridge A-level students but could easily be adapted. This lesson focuses on chapters 26-28 of the novel as well as taking in an in-depth look at repetitions in the novel and why Bronte uses this as a device in the novel. The lesson mainly focus around Heathcliff and to what extent we can read him as merely 'villainous', or whether this reading is problematised by context or the fact that he is Byronic hero. The lesson resources include key quotations, class discussion, example essays, points for reflection and video clips.

Originally written for AS Literature students of Cambridge, this revision booklet includes plot summary, discussion of the structure, notes on key symbols/motifs, character quotes, key devices and sample essay questions (as well as a sample response). There is space in the back for students to make detailed notes on key themes.

It then extends this with questions to ask students to consider Cathy and Heathcliff's love and how this manifests itself in the novel.
