Chocolate Bar Design - Worksheets and Activities

I have created a booklet/resource pack to support persuasive writing! Based around chocolate bars, pupils must design their own chocolate bar, logo and slogan, as well as the supporting advertising campaign. I have used this resource in the past for pupils to work independently, as well as in small groups. We finished the week with having a Dragon's Den style session, where everybody voted for their favourite, most persuasive sales pitch! Any feedback is welcomed and I hope you and your pupils enjoy using this resource.

Card Matching Activity - tion/cian/sion/tian

A set of 14 matching cards for pupils to choose the correct word ending. I have used this resource on a number of occasions, either in independent SPAG lessons or as lesson starters. I print these onto thick card and they have lasted well! Any feedback is greatly received and I hope you enjoy using this resource.

Sentence Openers Posters - ADDSPICE

(0)
ADD SPICE to pupils' writing by using these clear, informative posters! Working in Years 5 and 6, I noticed that many children lacked variation or creativity in their sentence openers, often leading to repetitive pieces of writing. I decided to make these simple posters to give pupils a range of options to support their writing, and I have noticed a significant difference in how pupils approach writing tasks. There is now a variation to sentence openers, with pupils opting for more complex vocabulary. I use these posters above my Literacy working wall, however they could easily be printed much smaller to support pupils when they are working at their tables. Each poster is displayed in a South-American style (perfect if you have a topic based around this or just want something different!) with a clear heading, example sentence and different examples of the sentence opener. I have provided the eight posters in Word format so that they can be edited with any vocabulary or example sentences. So if you're in UKS2, or desperately want to stretch the writing of your Year 3 or 4 class, this is the resource for you. I hope you enjoy using this resource and I look forward to any feedback!
Torture Tables - Times Tables Challenge and Certificates

Torture Tables - Times Tables Challenge and Certificates

(2)
An excellent way to monitor and assess pupils' progress in times tables! Consisting of 100 times tables questions, pupils have up to 10 minutes to complete the Torture Tables Challenge. Pupils may indicate that they have finished before this time, but their time is recorded and they cannot return to the challenge! Once the time is up, the teacher marks the Torture Tables Challenges, recording each pupil's score. Teachers may choose to post the average score on a display and share each pupils' score individually. Since producing this resource in September 2015, my Year 5 class have improved their scores significantly across the year, with pupils relishing the challenge of beating their own score, as well as trying to beat Year 6! Pupils love the challenge and are thrilled when they see their progress across the year. I have seen a notable improvement in pupils' skills in mental maths, as well as a clear development in their resilience and concentration in Numeracy. This resource will be invaluable in preparation for the Year 6 SATs Times Tables Tests. In this pack, I have included the editable Torture Table template, as well as two certificate templates. One certificate is awarded to pupils that reach 100% and the other is for pupils with the most improved score. Any feedback is welcome and I hope you and your class enjoy this activity.

An excellent way to monitor and assess pupils' development in number bonds! Consisting of 50 number bond questions, pupils have up to 10 minutes to complete the Brainy Bond Challenge. Pupils may indicate that they have finished before this time, but their time is recorded and they cannot return to the challenge! Once the time is up, the teacher marks the Brainy Bond Challenges, recording each pupil's score. Teachers may choose to post the average score on a display and share each pupils' score individually. iPhone Music Class Display - What are we listening to?!

iPhone Music Class Display - What are we listening to?!

(0)
Great at the front of the classroom, outside the library or in the school hall for assembly, the iPhone Music Class Display is an excellent way of sharing what music we are listening to! Once the display is laminated, simply print and tack a photo of the musician or album cover onto the centre of the display. Additionally, you can easily write the artist's or band's name using a whiteboard marker underneath. Pupils really look forward to seeing new music each week. I have worked with teachers that have used this resource to promote positive behaviour, with certain pupils each week being in charge of selecting the class music! Any feedback is greatly appreciated and I hope that you enjoy this resource!

Pokemon Go - British Landmarks Pokestops!

(0)
Inspired by the latest Pokemon craze, these British Landmark Pokestops are a great way of introducing children to areas of interest in the British Isles! Consisting of 24 well-known famous landmarks, each Pokestop features an image of the location, as well as blank space for pupils to write. I anticipate using these to identify different examples of human and physical geography, as well as an opportunity for pupils to complete a short research task. I am hoping to display these Pokestops on a large display, with ribbons to connect to their position on a UK map. Any feedback is greatly received and I hope you enjoy using this resource!

Grammar Reminder Cards - Superhero Themed!

(0)
Following a number of pupils consistently forgetting capital letters and full stops, I have created a superhero themed grammar card! Based around The Avengers, the grammar cards can be used in a variety of different ways. If a pupil consistently uses capital letters and full stops in a lesson, they are awarded a tick on their card, which I stick in the front of their book. For every five ticks, the pupil receives a reward. However, due to the simple design, these cards could be used for more complex examples of punctuation, or working against a success criteria. I have uploaded the report cards in Word format - if you have the font 'Bebas', you can easily edit the text. For example, I have created a similar resource for pupils that need a little extra encouragement with their behaviour! If you do not have the font, I have also provided a jpg example in the same document. Any feedback is greatly received and I hope you enjoy using this resource!

Behaviour Report Cards - Superhero Themed!

(0)
Following a series of consistent behaviour issues with boys in my class, I have created a superhero themed behaviour report card! Based around The Avengers, the report cards can be used in a variety of different ways. If a pupil demonstrates positive behaviour in a morning or afternoon session, I tick off their report card. For every five ticks, the pupil receives a reward. However, due to the simple design, these cards could be signed each lesson, day or week. I have uploaded the report cards in Word format - if you have the font 'Bebas', you can easily edit the text. For example, I have created a similar resource for pupils that need a little extra encouragement for including capital letters and full stops! If you do not have the font, I have also provided a jpg example in the same document. Any feedback is greatly received and I hope you enjoy using this resource!

End of the Year Quiz - Year 5 and 6

(0)
Great around the busy Christmas period, this Year 5 and 6 Quiz is a great way of bringing a class together, as well as having a bit of fun in the process! The questions have been carefully aimed at Year 5 and 6 children, with lots of questions from a range of different categories. I have supplied the answer sheet and pupil's question sheet too. Please do not hesitate to leave any feedback!

Expert in a Year - Assembly

(0)
To demonstrate perseverance, hard work and determination, I created this assembly to share the story of Ben Larcombe, who aimed to become an expert in table tennis in a year! This assembly comes with notes to guide through each of the slides, as well as any links to videos. My version of this assembly links to the Olympics and golf, where I have set myself the challenge of becoming an expert golf player in a year! However, this could be easily adapted to suit your chosen sport or activity. This assembly has great scope to making a display about your progress and sharing how pupils have persevered at a task, as well as opportunities to create further assemblies about your progress! I'm still terrible at golf. Any feedback is greatly received and I hope you enjoy using this resource!

The Grammar Police - Assembly and Competition

(0)
Following a series of whole school SPAG-related crimes, I have created an assembly PowerPoint to encourage pupils to look out for common spelling, punctuation and grammar mistakes! This assembly comes with notes to guide through each of the slides, as well as animations and pictures to represent each SPAG error. Following the assembly, I invited pupils to look out for SPAG errors in the wider community, where they were encouraged to email pictures or videos of mistakes that they had found. To bring together the evidence, we produced a large crime scene display board in school to celebrate pupils' achievements. This assembly has brought the school together, drawn attention to frequent spelling, punctuation and grammar errors, and even brought a little competitive edge between pupils (and staff!) Any feedback is greatly received and I hope you enjoy using this resource!

The assembly explains the important stages of a Burns Night celebration in easy to manage to steps, with accompanying pictures, videos and notes for an engaging and simple to prepare assembly. Please leave any feedback and I hope you enjoy using this resource!
Prefix Investigations - Dis/Re/Mis/Over

Prefix Investigations - Dis/Re/Mis/Over

(0)
This is a great way for pupils to investigate different prefixes, developing dictionary skills and building a range of vocabulary. Pupils to add the prefix and root word together to create a new word, then find its definition using their own knowledge or a dictionary. Following this investigation, pupils to conclude how the prefix changes the meaning of the word. Any feedback is welcome and I hope you and your class enjoy this activity.

Inspirational People / Perseverance and Resilience - The Alex Zanardi Story

(0)
This assembly presentation tells the story of the former F1, Touring Car and CART racer Alex Zanardi. Following a successful career in motorsport, Zanardi suffered a life-changing accident in 2001, resulting in both of his legs being amputated. However, this didn't deter him from winning Paralympic and World Championship medals in another sporting discipline along the way. This is a fantastic story of resilience, perseverance and being positive, even when times are challenging. This assembly comes complete with slides, images and supporting notes, allowing the assembly to be delivered instantly. Any reviews and feedback are gratefully received. I hope you enjoy using this resource!
