This is a really fun game to practice with your students who are learning vocabulary about EN VILLE, and it involves NO PREP. I've included both a beginner and intermediate version of the game, both in black and white and color versions. The beginner version has the words written out and the intermediate version only shows pictures. Have a look at the thumbnails to see what they look like. Depending on class size you could either give each student more than one card or have them play with a partner. I recommend printing out and laminating these cards if possible so that you can use them over and over again. Here's how this game works. Once each student has a card (or cards), the one who has the card that says JE COMMENCE starts the game. He says, for example, Je commence. J'ai la cheminée. Qui a la fenêtre? The person who has the card with a window on it says, J'ai la fenêtre. Qui a les rideaux?"And so the game goes on until the last card is called and that student's card will say, J'ai fini! Another idea is to prepare two sets of cards, divide your class into two groups and let each group have a go to see which team can get through the entire deck of cards the fastest. If the vocabulary is completely new you could start out with the beginner deck and as the words become more familiar you could move on to the intermediate level. It's really a lot of fun, and though you can play with younger students the older ones love this game just as much.

This easy to play 30 minute dice game is a fun way to practice the irregular French verbs ÊTRE - ALLER - AVOIR - FAIRE in 6 different tenses: - present tense - passé composé - imperfect - futur simple - conditional - present subjunctive These four verbs are the most essential and often the most difficult for students to memorize, so I like to provide many different activities to keep it fun and fresh. You can start using this game with your beginner students and continue to use it to review these verbs as you teach new tenses. My high school students love this game, and it can get very competitive if you decide to play it as a race (details are explained with the activity). Students divide up into teams and play a dice game, the dice determining which subject and infinitive to conjugate in the indicated tense. When you are teaching or reviewing the verbs ÊTRE - ALLER - AVOIR - FAIRE your students will have a great time practicing with this hands on game: QUEL DOMMAGE!! This is a review game in which students play by filling in the blanks with the verb in parentheses in the tense that you are currently teaching or reviewing. The answer key that students will use to check their work includes the present tense, passé composé, imperfect, futur simple and conditional tenses. These 4 verbs are essential to forming a strong base knowledge of French, yet they can be difficult to master without lots and lots of practice and review. You can pull this game out time and time again over the course of the years for a no-prep activity. Once students know how to use the French pronouns Y and EN they will have a great time practicing them this this hands on game: QUEL DOMMAGE!! This is a pronoun review game in which the sentences are written in the present, futur proche or passé composé tenses. Detailed instructions are included so that your students can practice pronouns with this fun game even when you need can't be there. All you have to do is print the game cards on heavy paper or card stock and cut them out. If you laminate them you'll have a no prep activity ready to go for years to come! Playing French TABOO is a great way to get students to speak French and learn a lot of new vocabulary. This game is simple to modify and use with beginners and advanced students alike. The them of this TABOO game is L'ÉTÉ. 30 French-English cards are included. There are 2 fun ways to play this fun vocabulary game and both are explained in the instructions. All of the words on the cards are in French and English. This is very useful as many of the words will be new to students. This French Taboo game includes the following: How to play classic Taboo (beginner and advanced levels) 30 Taboo game cards to print, cut out and laminate if possible (black and white and color versions) How to play 15 MINUTES MAX - an alternative version of the game 15 MINUTES MAX game board Sheet to record new words in French and English (nouveaux mots) *In the upper left corner there's a spot for you to punch holes in the cards so that you can then attach them with a ring for no prep use every time. Be sure to laminate if at all possible! Object of the game: One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the word at the top of the card. Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. Beginner students should be allowed to use the TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

Instructions One grid to print out and make one copy for each student in your class. There are sixteen squares on the grid. Each square contains one question and a space to write a classmate’s name. Instructions: Have your students move around the room asking classmates the questions that are written in the squares on the grid that you provide. If a classmate responds with OUI he or she writes his name on the line provided. Complete sentences are encouraged even when the answer is NON. Activity continues until all boxes are filled. Once all of the boxes have been signed your students can turn in their papers. This is a fun, interactive way to review vocabulary and to practice oral production and listening comprehension. Your students will enjoy learning fun facts about their classmates, and you will certainly like hearing them speak French!
