Playing French TABOO is a great way to get students to speak French and learn a lot of new vocabulary. This game is simple to modify and use with beginners and advanced students alike. In this classic version of the game there is no particular vocabulary theme. 100 French-English cards are included. There are 2 fun ways to play this fun vocabulary game and both are explained in the instructions. All of the words on the cards are in French and English. This is very useful as many of the words will be new to students. Just click here! Object of the game: One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can’t use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the word at the top of the card. Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. Beginner students should be allowed to use the TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

Once students know how to use French indirect object pronouns they will have a great time practicing them this this hands on game: QUEL DOMMAGE!! This is an indirect object pronoun review game in which the sentences are written in the present, futur proche or passé composé tenses. Detailed instructions are included so that even when you need to have a sub stay with your classes, your students can review pronouns by playing this game. All you have to do is print the game cards on heavy paper or card stock and cut them out. If you laminate them you'll have a no prep activity ready to go for years to come! Put all of the game pieces in a box and divide your students into small teams. Give each team gets a box of questions and a copy of the answer key. Students must replace the underlined words in the sentences with an indirect object pronoun (me - te - lui - nous - vous - leur) and say the sentence correctly. When they are correct, they get to keep their game card. However, when they draw a QUEL DOMMAGE card they have to put all of their game cards back in the box. The student with the most game cards at the end is the winner. Est-ce que tu as déjà…? Have you ever...? This French speaking activity is great for getting French 2 and 3 students to speak and practice their vocabulary when learning about RESTAURANTS. Students will also review the passé composé using AVOIR as helping verb when doing this activity. Your students will enjoy getting up and moving around the classroom as they ask their classmates questions that are listed on the grid. See full instructions for this resource below. This resource includes: One grid to print out and make one copy for each student in your class. There are sixteen squares on the grid. Each square contains one question and a space to write a classmate’s name. Instructions: Have your students move around the room asking classmates the questions that are written in the squares on the grid that you provide. If a classmate responds with OUI he or she writes his name on the line provided. Complete sentences are encouraged even when the answer is NON. Activity continues until all boxes are filled. Once all of the boxes have been signed your students can turn in their papers. This is a fun, interactive way to review vocabulary about LA VILLE and to practice using the passé composé. Your students will enjoy learning fun facts about their classmates, and you will certainly like hearing them speak French!

When the holidays come around there's nothing else on everyone's mind, but it's a great time to incorporate French Christmas vocabulary into using SI CLAUSES! This is a set of 20 SI CLAUSE task cards that can be used at any level since you can have your students create 1st, 2nd or 3rd conditional SI CLAUSES. As you see in the previews above, the infinitives to be used on each task card are in infinitive form. You can either instruct students to use a particular type of SI CLAUSE or you can just leave them to use their imagination. The first part of the SI CLAUSE is provided to inspire creativity on the second part. French Christmas vocabulary is used in this set of task cards and images are provided in case some of the vocabulary is new. There are 20 task cards to print out, cut and laminate for use year after year.
