I created these worksheets for my year 9 SEN students who were struggling to understand a Christmas Carol. Stave by Stave the students can answers to show their understanding of the text. I initially created this for homework, and for students with poor attendance as it can be completed at home, then in school they can self assess using the answer sheet. Enables students to gain practice in pulling out quotes. Can be used for revision purposes.

OUTSTANDING Romeo and Juliet SEN lesson - Comparing film adaptations of the prologue

Graded as an OUTSTANDING lesson by OFSTED in May 2016, I created this lesson for my year 8 SEMH students who learn through kinaesthetic and auditory ways of learning. In this lesson students watch 2 films adaptions (5 min clips) of Romeo and Juliet. They then are grouped into 4 groups and move in a carousel activity around the room answering leveled questions on tables. Followed by class discussion. This enables students to understand the prologue, before reading it, which they can then do for homework. Includes a detailed lesson plan that I gave the inspector on the day, with differentiation, cross curricular links, SMSC and teachers notes.

Therefore I created worksheets that enabled students to create their own characterisation of each character through the use of quotations. Each drawing must be annotated with quotations from the text which is in the supporting box at the bottom of each sheet. I have given an example sheet to show learners. English SOW - Roald Dahl Reading and Writing - PART ONE

Part One of a full scheme of work on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. With 13 powerpoints, resources, worksheets, reading and writing assessments. Delivered to my KS3 SEN students my lessons are planned to engage all types of learners. Work is suitable for KS2. Work is differentiated with higher and lower level options as well as extension activities. Teacher notes are on all powerpoint slides. All lessons come with a learning objective, success criteria of core, stretch and challenge. Every lesson has a starter and plenary activity. Most powerpoint will stretch to a couple of lessons. The term has a variety of activities, including newspaper writing, formal and informal letter writing, discussion activities, paired activity, many comprehension activities and lots of reading. This reading may be done in class, as planned within the lesson, or set for homework if short of time. This scheme of work (including PART TWO) contains work on: • History of Roald Dahl • Similes and metaphors • Nouns, verbs and adjectives • Use of quotations • Use of a dictionary and thesaurus • Descriptive writing • Shape poetry • Onomatopoeia • Alliteration • Formal and informal letter writing • Peer and self-assessment Students reading levels can be assessed through formative assessment throughout the term. There are reading assessment grid with this scheme of work. Part Two I have had to sell separately as I had too many resources to load in one lot.
