For over a decade I taught in a leading independent school, gaining experience in many different parts of the curriculum, and areas of school life. Prior to qualification as a teacher, I gained valuable experience working with children by assisting in classrooms, and through my role as school librarian. I have taught as a KS2 class teacher, covering core subjects, was Head of PSHE, and later specialised in English, and also in Religious Studies up to Year 8, preparing children for examinations in this subject. Since having my daughter, for the last few years, I have enjoyed being a private tutor, focusing predominantly on English, but also maths and gentle 11+ preparation. I have helped children ranging in age from Year 2 to Year 8, supporting both SEN and EAL, which I am particularly interested in and enjoy. Creating my own resources has always been an important part of my approach to teaching and learning, which is for it to be as targeted, personal and pertinent as possible.
