This is to support AQA German A level, Hodder & Stoughton book Kapitel: Kunst und Architektur, page 74-77 . It now also includes two 360 degree tours to introduce and practise architectural vocab. I have used this in combination with semerson6’s resources https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/aqa-german-a-level-hodder-and-stoughton-book-kunst-und-architektur-11486144. The first task is about the famous buildings mentioned in the “Zum Einstieg” box at the beginning of the chapter. The powerpoint “Berühmte Gebäude” contains pictures of each of the buildings, showing each one for a few seconds and then moving on to the next (it plays in a loop). While watching the presentation students should fill in the worksheet about the name, country and function of the building. The web tasks ppt contains a link to an overview sheet of different styles that I found online. After going through the vocab with the students, they then use their devices to go to 360cities.net to look at a 360 degree view of the buildings (they are the same ones from the text on p. 75 which can be used as the answer sheet) and work out what style they represent. My students enjoyed that task very much and I think it bring architecture a bit more to life.

Power point for the first lesson to show students your expectations for careful copying in German lessons. Students are shown a sentence on the whiteboard and asked to copy it carefully. Then potential mistakes are highlighted and students have to check their own work, e.g. do they have an underlined title, capital letters and umlaut…

A first exercise on using the dictionary to find German words, with a few exercises on bringing letters and words (in English) in alphabetical order

An activity for a first lesson with a class. My favourite colour, number ect with a twist. Good to get to know the class and revise word endings and word order. First slide is an example, second slide is vocab and third slide the worksheet which the students copy and fill in the gaps. Same activity in French and German. Use the new Pixar film to introduce pets in German with enough material for about 3 lessons. These lessons are based on chapter 2, units 1 and 2, pages 30-34 in “Stimmt 1” but can also be used in combination with Zoom 1 and other text books. This is an introduction with exercises on how to use the Collins online dictionary and how to avoid common pitfalls when translating. No preparation or printing required and all tasks will mark themselves. The examples used are in French but no prior knowledge of French is required so it could be used for students of other languages as the principles of using a dictionary will be the same.
