This revision workbook guides pupils’ revision for their GCSE English Literature exam on Romeo and Juliet. It helps them to organise their work into an easier to access format. The workbook can be completed within class alongisde their learning as they create their own revision guide or it can be set as an ongoing homework. The revision workbook also aids in AfL as it helps to identify areas within Romeo and Juliet that are needed for extra revision. It is a purely text focused book making it suitable for any exam board.

This resource starts with a list of "weak" adjectives, and the student is tasked with providing a better adjective. Then they can put what they have done to use with an editing activity below. Ideal for EAL/ ESOL teaching, lower ability GCSE English language groups and KS3.

This resource contains 27 literary devices and their definitions as well as three column headings: device, definition, example. The example column is to be provided by the learners and can be done in relation to the texts that you are studying. Ensure that the cards are cut out in advance (or as a minimum cut the sheets into strips and get pupils to cut down further). This is simply because the definitions correspond to the device in the same location on each sheet. Because the definitions and devices can be matched easily from the uncut sheet, it makes this a brilliant task to be used during a cover lesson if a non-specialist is delivering the work. The front sheet provides visual instructions to support learners during the task.

Sort the characters and themes into whether they are relevant to Romeo and Juliet or not, but watch out for a few red herrings in there! This activity is ideal for low ability learners and SEND to check learning in Romeo and Juliet. It is a self contained activity, including instructions making it ideal for a cover lesson.
