I used this with a bottom set year 8 class (very low ability, high level of SEND) to find out what they already knew about triangles. They went around the classroom talking to each other to fill in about the four triangles pictured. Then after feeding back and correcting misconceptions we filled in a new sheet to stick in their exercise books. Would work well for a KS2 shape revision lesson before SATs also.

This PPT contains 4 fully editable slides, easy to be adapted for tutor time. There is a numeracy, literacy, citizenship and study skills slide, all of which can be easily added to with a simple task as per your school’s policy. The slides also contain a section for each notices and reminders to have a visual reminder of things such as "remember to bring your reply slip" or “the south yard is out of use during break this week” or even “stay away from the third floor corridor unless you wish to die a most painful death”.

The slides automatically progress after around 10 seconds (adjust the time you tell the class if needed, I find 6 seconds gives them the amount of urgency needed to focus and settle!) This resource was originally used at the start of a lesson on adding/ subtracting fractions as it helps recall all the needed skills. By using the “count the squares” method, pupils are able to discover the area of a circle. This circle is on a cm square grid, enabling them to get a good estimate of the area of the circle which can then be used to consider in relation to pi. I always like to reward the person who can get closest to the “calculator answer”.

One has the names of the shapes included and the other simply instructs to find the names of the quadrilaterals and triangles they have been learning about that week (this version has a few red herrings thrown in). Even though the two wordsearches look different, the words to be found are in the same place in each - making it easy to use both versions of the sheet in the same class.

Scaffolded worksheet that I used with a mid to low ability Year 7 group to build on place value to multiply and divide decimals, but absolutely perfect for KS3 & 4 as this often poses difficulty with foundation GCSE students. The worksheet features a worked example alongside an incomplete example. This makes it suitable to use for a “follow along” example in class; for a piece of catch up work, homework or revision; or even for use as part of a cover lesson.
