Designed as a quick starter, or a springboard for further discussion and research, students will match up Eminem’s song lyrics with the figurative language being used, such as a rhetorical question, simile, three part list and more. Aimed at teenagers and young adults, who may not have engaged with language features before. GCSE / Functional Skills English. Serving Suggestion: Students research the lyrics of bands and artists they like to find any language features being used. Introduce them to Canva or Publisher and get them to make posters about a band of their choice. Each word has been well-researched and carefully selected to specifically help Entry Level 3 learners prepare for the City and Guilds English writing assessment. The words are also put into a sentence, which mirrors the style of the assessment. Features a variety of commonly misspelled words and homophones that open up useful discussions with your students. Made in an easy to print, cut out and laminate (remember single-sided!) format on Microsoft word.
