This is an introductory lesson to Richard III and the Wars of the Roses. I use the Horrible Histories clip on youtube to do the timeline activity to plot key battles. Pupils then create a facebook profile for Richard III. I use this lesson as the first of four lessons in an enquiry into Richard III.

Judgement exercises followed by plenary where pupils have to create their own campaign poster for the candidate they consider to have the strongest claim to the throne.

Pupils challenge the interpretations of Terry Deary in his Horrible Histories Empire book. Pupils conduct their own individual research using the information sheets positioned around the room. Pupils then give a diverse interpretation in the plate exercise. There is also a peer assessment sheet.

This resource contains five detailed and thorough timelines for each part of the specification. On each timeline are five separate themes - Understanding of disease and medicine, Public Health, Surgery, Role of Women, and Impact of War and Technology. The knowledge is specifically for the IGCSE Pearson Edexcel course. These have proved very popular with my students, especially with planning exam-style questions and improving chronological understanding. A big time saver!

This bundle of resources have been used in our 'GCSE Home Run' lead up to the exams. The resources includes a thorough revision Power Point on the Plains Indians, thorough revision booklets on the Early Settlers and Mormons, Homesteaders and Cattlemen (as well as a teacher version), law and order (as well as a teacher version) and on the Plains Wars. This bundle of resources also includes a bank of past paper questions on the American West and a American West Timeline Display which I have cut up and stuck on my wall. These resources have also been used in our 'Intervention' sessions and have proved popular with the pupils. The exam focus is for OCR SHP.

This resource contains precise knowledge for each of the five protests you have to study for the OCR SHP Paper 2 - Luddites, Tolpuddle Martyrs, Rebecca Riots, Match Girls Strike and the Suffragists/Suffragettes. This knowledge is thorough and categorised into causes, methods, key events, authorities reaction and outcomes. The Suffragettes knowledge is presented on a timeline as I have found this the easiest way to demonstrate the changes in the methods of the protest.

Lesson looking at the role of Gladiators in roman society. Pupils complete a starter/settler activity and then watch a series of horrible history clips and take notes on whether they think the Romans were civilized or not based on the role of gladiators. Videos can be found on youtube - gladiator training clip is terry jones from monty python looking at how gladiators trained is also on youtube. Pupils finish by completing a questionnaire by pretending to be a gladiator. Pupils then take part in plenary by judging how civilized they think Romans were.

This resource was created for a ‘turbo’ revision session that lasted an hour. There is an explain question on the expansion of slavery with a detailed but simplified overview of three key reasons why this happened. There is also a 9 mark (write an organised summary) question on the railways and two plans for questions on homesteaders. There is a detailed summary of the Homesteaders section to aid with these plans. Pupils found these very useful and were able to access the exam questions well.

14 Revision booklets for AS students' first year studying AQA Democracy and Nazism. Very thorough overview notes with precise detail, historian's quotes, summary diagrams and exam focus. My students loved using them. Similar format to my Fascist Italy revision guides which have been popular with teachers. Great to put on a VLE so students can access at home. Excellent for students planning and writing essays. The notes and analysis are very thorough and are a great 'way in' to new teachers of this course. This will save teachers many hours of reading and preparation time.

Same format as my Crime and Punishment knowledge tests. Simply stick the questions and answers back to back and then laminate. These are displayed on a 'GCSE Hub' display that my pupils can access whenever they need to. Influenced by research that says the best way to retain knowledge is to keep reviewing previous content in low-stakes knowledge tests. Used daily by pupils, especially those in my tutor who study history. Plains Indians, Mormons, Homesteaders, Early settlers, cowboys and law and order covered.
