Storyboard activity to be completed using the Pearson Edexcel History IGCSE revision book. Great way to get an overview of the key content and themes for the second section of the Development of Dictatorship: German 1918-1945 course.

Two storyboard revision activities to be used with the Pearson Edexcel IGCSE revision book. This activity reviews the content and themes for the third section of the course, looking at the rise of the Nazis.

These resources cover the content in the fourth section of the Germany course for the IGCSE. They help reinforce chronological understanding and to cover key content in an accessible way. Storyboard gap fills are used, a ‘tell me a story about…’ sheet on events leading to Hitler becoming fuhrer and other review tasks. These are to be used with the Pearson Edexcel IGCSE revision book.

This enquiry can take 2-3 lessons to complete. Pupils work in small groups using the information sheets provided to come to their own conclusion. There is advice on how to approach the research, structure their notes and how to justify their conclusion. Pupils have to choose which historians they agree with, if they agree with either. I get pupils to move to an area of the room to make their judgement - this is shown on the PPT. Highly engaging lesson and builds the skills required on any young historian. These 5 quizzes cover content for section 5 of the Elizabethan England course - Explorers. Introducing quizzes like these has had a dramatic impact on our department's results as they improve the recall of subject knowledge significantly. These are based on research that shows frequent low-stakes testing significantly improves a pupil's subject knowledge. I have these displayed in my classroom so pupils can use them when they finish work early and they are also put on VLE for parents to quiz pupils at home.

This resource contains eight quiz cards for the AQA Democracy and Nazism course which cover the State and society 1933-1939 sections. Topics these quizzes cover are the terror state, the economy, youth, women and opposition. I cut these out stick back to back and laminate. I them display them in the classroom so students can access them. They are also put on the sixth form VLE. These have contributed to outstanding results and student's recall of knowledge has dramatically improved.

These resources are focused on the Crime and Punishment Course for OCR SHP 1-9. Each booklet focuses on either Crimes, Punishments or Law Enforcement. Each booklet has a an easy to use, detailed timeline charting the changes across the four periods of study. There are also tasks focused on exam-style questions.

A starter activity that can immediately show relevance to the pupils as to why they are studying an invasion that took place nearly 1000 years ago. The powerpoint looks at the Norman invasion impact on language and also makes a suggestion as to where the Three Lions emblem comes from.

This lesson requires pupils to gather information from around the room and then to produce a piece of empathy work on life a sea in the Tudor period. Their is a checklist for pupils to see before starting their written work and is also used in peer assessment afterwards. This lesson was rated as outstanding in December 2012.

This is an activity looking at why there wasnt more protest towards the Nazi Party in the 1930s. Pupils look at Nazi Party record on the economy and unemployment. They also rank from 1 - 5 what the state of Germany was according to five categories (society, economy, government strength, prestige, democracy). The final pleanry allows pupils to demonstrate why there wasnt more opposition to the Nazi Party in the 1930s.

Lesson looking at the Cuban Missile Crisis. Cut and Stick activities. Comprehension and Empathy activities. Pupils have to describe, explain and judge the Cuban Missile Crisis. Use of photographs, maps, and cartoons.

Students have to make a judgement as to whether a memorial should have been built. They compare sources and historians opinions. Videos and images included. This lesson looks at why many white Americans viewed the Plains Indians as savage. The main focus is looking at the religion of the Sioux. Pupils move around the room collecting information, AFL activities and exam focus at the end.

Consolidation exercise after studying the rise in popularity of the Fascists 1918-21. Pupils create their own significance pizza. Each slice represents a key factor then the ingredients represent key detail, evidence and historians views. Fun exercise that brings knowledge and understanding together.

This lesson is a context lesson to the AQA HIS2K Mussolini 1922-1945 study. It requires students to make judgments on the stability of Liberal government on the eve of the First World War. Students arrive to this lesson having made notes on the problems facing liberal Italy after Unification.

My students use this resource to evaluate the three sources in preparation for the Year 2 exam. Provenance, Tone, Content and Argument are evaluated with an overall conclusion on value.
