I am a French national that has lived in various countries throughout his life. After initially growing up in French speaking Africa, I spent ten years in Germany, ten years in Scotland, four years in Spain and various other countries. When I get asked where I am from, I usually reply that I am European, rather than shoehorning myself into being French or German or Scottish, as I feel that I am none of these only. I have been called a ‘third generation kid’ and been compared to the many students that I teach at international schools. Indeed, just like many of my students, I have moved about from an early age and have thus gotten a good understanding of cultures, people, different languages and surroundings, which has since then prompted me to embark on an international teaching career. I feel that in terms of empathising with international students and the international community, I am the ideal international school teacher.
