Use with students of various ages to support word learning.

A fun game for children of all ages that encourages children to listen and start to use syllables, developing phonological awareness.

Use as a sheet or cut up and select specific cards to teach and support active listening skills. Pupils can have copies in planners to increase confidence when asking for help

Help students to clearly identify topic/subject words they know, are unsure of and the ones they do know. Clear criteria to support students asses their own understanding. Laminate the sheet so pupils can write the words in each section with a dry wipe pen. Once a word is learned, students can move the word into the green section.

Use this resource to encourage children to exchange ‘I want…’ symbol plus the noun.
