I put these together and printed them out in A3 for my students. I found them pretty helpful for encouraging them to consider the ‘tricky’ essay topics. We follow Edexcel IGCSE board, so AO1 and AO4 context are key.

On the slides I have annotated several of the poems and included the planning sheet that I used to show my students how to successfully compare two poems for question 1 in the exam. I've also included some annotated poems in worksheet format. These can be used in a variety of ways to try and teach unseen poetry skills at the same time.

A fun and engaging way to start any lesson

This is a straight-forward, to the point, revision workshop series of tasks for students to complete in a lesson. I planned this for my whole department to follow easily for the AQA GCSE syllabus. Unfortunately, I cannot share the Mr. Bruff information for copyright reasons, but I'm sure you could access the e-book, or print off your own information to support the learning of students. Clear and concise explanation of 1-3rd conditionals and mixed

I used this as an interview resource based on speech and language. It was interactive and the students were engaged. As I used the Northern Irish dialect, it also enabled me to show a personable side during the lesson.

This comic strip took hours of laborious editing/formatting- it is a real time saver for you to teach or revise the plot of the novel. It could also be a great resource to catch up students who have had long-term absence.

I used this as my observed GCSE lesson this year and was commended for the strict focus on helping students to meet the necessary AOs. The ppt includes exemplar paragraph responses and student-led assessment/checking.

A great resource to check your students' knowledge of key scenes, characters, themes and quotations. I will be using this for the AQA GCSE Literature 1 paper to ensure my groups know enough quotations to hit Assessment Objective one easily.

This ppt has a series of flashcards students can use as a method to revise the poems. I used this to try and enhance my students' understanding of the second poem they choose from the 'Power and Conflict' anthology to compare with the set poem in question 1. The last couple of slides was set as a challenge for students to complete during lesson time.

This is a collection of resources that could be used to enhance and supplement your unit of work.

We used this resource as a department to get every KS3 student to produce a 'best practice' piece which was placed at the front of every book they have in college to promote and praise their efforts. It also enabled us to see the level of literacy students have when entering your classroom.

This is a series of resources that could be used over the period of a week to supplement descriptive writing teaching. I have used it for the AQA element of Language Paper 1, section B.

I have used these resources to help my students understand and learn enough quotations to get them through the AQA GCSE Literature paper 1. The plot timeline we completed alongside our first reading of the text. The aim was to enable students to independently find appropriate references from across the whole text, depending on what character, theme or relationship they were asked to write on. The ppt is short, but was the beginnings of in-depth text analysis, looking specifically AO2 analysis, but also the context (AO3) of the quotation.

This is a full ppt unit of work that should take a half term to complete in full, alongside reading the text/ key extracts. There are some interactive creative writing starters at the beginning that we used to help students produce more creative pieces in response to the text. This is a fun and interactive resource that could be used for years 7 and 8.
