Using characters that are familiar to children I have put together a phone book to encourage the children to explore numbers in a different way during their play. Children use this resources alongside a phone so that they can practice matching the numbers on the phone to the ones under the picture of the character that they would like to call.
These number tracks can help children to recognise the number using the fingers as a representation. These can also be used along side helping hands (gloves filled with sand) to give both concrete and pictorial representations.
