I have produced a three and a half week block of Literacy planning (17 lessons) based around the text 'Friend or Foe' by Michael Morpurgo. The unit relates well to a topic on World War 2. A range of incidental writing opportunities including diary entries, character descriptions, narrative, newspaper article, discussion and conscience alley, recounts, letter writing in role, hot-seating, playscripts and a book review.

I have created an end of year Numeracy test with 56 questions covering the new objectives for the Year 5 New Curriculum. The questions include Number and place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, measures, geometry and statistics. This test could also be taken at the beginning of the year to show what children already know or during the year to assess learning.
