A brand new English Language iGCSE Predicted Paper

A brand new English Language iGCSE Predicted Paper

Self-explanatory, can be adapted for use in mainstream GCSE exam (for example AQA/Pearson Paper 2) with a slight tweaking of the questions. This is based on “A Passage to Africa” which has not yet featured in the main exams, only being used one in the reserve paper for Jan 2019. I hope this helps, over the next few days I plan to write the model answers (hopefully I have time!), the current price reflects the question paper alone.

Could be used as a model for a full-mark Pearson iGCSE coursework, or an A Level analysis coursework for another exam board. I would use this as a live walkthrough of of how to structure the essay, or take one paragraph and really closely break it down as to how it has been composed. I hope this helps anyone who is in need of a stretch and challenge exemplar; it could easily be adapted for a different group/ability. This is marked out of AO1, AO2 and AO4 with 10 marks for each component.

Self-Contained Booklet on NEA English Literature

I hope you find this useful :-) it is a completely self-contained booklet which guides students through a range of activities for English Literature B - Independent Study My students have found it really helpful to work through for homework, but it could easily be adapted to in-lesson learning. Each section includes quotes from the critical anthology which feeds into the coursework meaning you don’t have to work through that whole section NB we only focus on NARRATIVE THEORY for NEA1 so this is all related to that. However we do it fairly early in Year 1 so it builds on a lot of GCSE creative writing skills. Please leave a review if you have enjoyed this or have any requests as to something you would like in future as it really helps my business, Lauren

I have created two lessons or one full WTM if you just use the second half of the presentation. The theme is on the danger of the sea and fits the pre-release info foe 2022. I have used this with a mixed and high ability group and both found it useful. I would recommend wither writing your own examples for the slides following the questions (just a starter para) as we all have our own style or using a web cam (mine is like the one in the images) to show different students’ work after each writing bit to live model marking.

I hope this is useful for your students in prep for their summer exams. All the questions and the extract are brand new, and the questions for part B link to the extract as they should in the real exam. I have reduced the price as this does not yet include model answers, however I will be producing these shortly and will increase the price when these are added. Any questions, please let me know. Solidarity with all teachers at this challenging time!

I have made a full Paper 1 for Language in light of the new (very un-useful!) announcements for the exam board. There is also three full examplars for section A, written in ‘real time’ . I have also added in a set of data for a TALK-based CLA question as that is guaranteed to feature in some way. I hope that you find them useful and please let me know if you would like more of these made, or for any other subjects related, thanks!

Othello Example Essay -Exam Response

Written in real time - the question is useful for AQA Specification A (Love) or B (tragedy). Spend some time planning with the template provided, then you could use this as guided writing or guided marking. The question is: “All women in “Othello” are tragic, innocent victims who evoke pity”. How far do you agree? It has been written by an experienced teacher and examiner (me) in the style of an A Level student so it is challenging but realistic.

A really useful mini-knowledge organiser in bookmark form; students find this incredibly useful to work from. Adaptable as to what you have covered. Includes contextual information on the reverse and how to write a response to an extract on the front. Act 1 - full exam question from Act 1, scene ii Model answer (full marks) based on the extract to demonstrate how to achieve the AOs and how to write academic paragraphs in response to an extract.

Get students settled and engaged in the first seconds of their lessons with these lively ‘do now’ tasks, fully adaptable and themed for every season of the year. All slides have a solution slide which accompanies it. This is a huge 86 slide powerpoint which can be used as part of any different lesson. Suitable for primary age upwards - even my A Level students love these and I use them at the start of each lesson. There are enough here for you to use throughout the year. Use the slide at the start of your PPTs as a settler/ice breaker and to get students focused from the start of your sessions. Each slide has: a picture puzzle, a daily joke, a riddle and a word of the day. There is also a link to the day’s news to be used for tutorial/PSHCEE etc. These have proven so popular with my students both in remote learning and in the classroom; I hope you enjoy them!

I sat a full timed paper (I am a lead examiner) for the specimen paper for Edexcel which I attach here - it was done in timed conditions, unseen. You could use this as example answers once the students have sat a paper or cut them up for students to analyse more closely. I hope it is useful for you! If you would like any more like this creating for any paper of your choice please don’t hesitate to pop a request in the comments. Can do lit, lang or combined up to A Level. :-)

Very useful for A Level or undergraduate literature. I hope you enjoy using this. You could potentially use it as a short project, assign a different literary genre and students make their own (good transition from A Level to HE)

Resource which shows firstly how to model annotation and then an example answer which covers how to structure an answer to Q3. This is on the Zola Budd/Mary Decker Edexcel Paper 2 for English Language, June 2020 (Edxecel) You could use this in a number of ways, cut and mix up the sentences to show how to build up paragraphs, as sentence starters or simply as a model answer to stick in books after the students have had a go.

Edexcel Literature "A Christmas Carol" - Example Annotations and Answer Section A

Attached is an example answer for your students to show how to respond to a real question for the “A Christmas Carol” extract question and then a full mark answer to analyse with the students. I videoed my process of annotating and then turning these into an answer - the process was: summary of whole extract, words and word groups, literary devices, sentence types and punctuation, summary of whole extract. (This task only requires AO2- language and structure). If you would like an example writing for Section B I would also be happy to add one or make a new resource.
