A guide for the common command words in Science. For each command word there is success criteria, key words/phrases to use and a worked example highlighting where the success criteria are used.

A first lesson reviewing transverse and longitudinal waves, the key words needed and what they look like. I print slide 11, one each, and students use this to make their notes as they go through and to scaffold their exam answer at the end. For slide 5-9 use mini whiteboards and repeat as needed to embed learning.

Lesson built around the summer 2018 exam asking students to write a method to find the density of an irregular object. This lesson was designed for foundation tier students. Discusses the exam question, command word and what this means and key words. Covers the knowledge that students need about density to be able to understand the topic and answer questions. There is practice for students at each stage. Finally students answer the question, look at success criteria and mark using model answer.

Introduction to reflection and its uses. Includes often used practical work and mirror maze plenary taken from another free resource on TES (cannot take credit). Many others available so can be changed to suit your class.
