KS3 / KS4 Songwriting Scheme of Work. The unit is broken down into student ability levels HIGH (HAT), MIDDLE (MAT) and LOW (LAT) to support individual progress through learning. Chord Sheets and an opening presentation for the first lesson. There is also a "Progress Bingo" card for students to monitor their progress as they complete the task. This lesson can work within a number of contexts including a single lesson (although expectations of what they complete should be considered), a scheme of work lasting up to 6 lessons, or as workshop material for an Extra Curricular Day. It would be worth modelling some examples of good pop songs taken from YouTube to demonstrate what students are trying to achieve.

A beginnners guide to rhythm. This is a small workbook designed to be printed as an A5 booklet that students can work through during class as they learn the first basic rhythmic notation including their names, time values and symbol. This is a fun booklet that is great to use inn Primary Schools or with beginner students to help reinforce their learning. A melodic booklet to compliment the series is on the way.

KS3 Year 9 Film Music Scheme of Work including 7 lesson plans with resources, film clips, worksheets and homework tasks. This scheme is designed to be used in the music classroom with basic instruments, although it can be easily adapted to use in a computer room with music software if available, which works well. Aimed at year 9 students, although this would work with other year groups if it fits into your annual planning. I have used this for many years with much success as the scheme lends itself to evidence based analysis and review from teacher and pupil including self and peer evaluation, ideal for Ofsted to see a clear progression of learning.

This Scheme of Work incorporates a section of the Trinity Bronze Arts Award and naturally progresses onto an Opera Scheme of Work should you choose to do this. The focus musical is Wicked. It includes 9 lesson plans, contents sheets, lyrics, videos and music needed to complete the scheme. Please note that the Arts Award constantly updates and so you may wish to visit their website to check details and download the latest forms (although I have provided forms that were current when written that you could use if not submitting to Trinity for assessment).

KS3 Instruments of the Orchestra Part 1 of 5 "Layout of the Orchestra": This is part one of a five part resource which looks at all the different sections of the Orchestra. Each part contains a lesson plan, content sheets, film clips, music clips, starters, plenaries and worksheets for students. This first part is about the layout of the Orchestra.

An ideal set of resources for that period between assessments and the end of term including 3 lesson plans. This short scheme of work ideal for KS3 classes in the run up to Christmas. Designed to be used alongside keyboards the 5 main songs provided vary in difficulty and you will receive both the Sibelius files and PDF. You will also receive 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas' to be used with a number of instruments to complete a class orchestra performance in the last lesson. All music is also available to by separately at a cheaper cost.

Traditional African Music scheme of work with written tasks, composition tasks, percussion tasks and vocal tasks. This SoW includes an overview, 6 x lesson plans, resources for each lesson, including PowerPoints and video uploads. It also includes a work book intended for cover lesson, inclusion lessons and absentees with 6 tasks to complete following the scheme.

Theme and Variations Scheme of work suitable for KS3 first time use of Sibelius. Including all Sibelius Files, Overview, Worksheet to monitor progress through student self reflection and peer review. A marking sheet for teachers and students to complete demonstrating conversation between teacher-student-peers (there is also a SAMPLE to project to students so they know what to do). Learning Support Assistant booklet to hand out so that they are able to better support the students they are working with in Music. This has been tried and tested - not only has it been successful with students but has also received outstanding feedback when observed due to student and teacher monitoring and use of LSA.

This is an overview PowerPoint that you can use to show students what is expected of them out of the new GCSE course for 2016. The opening slide allows you to choose your Exam Board and then takes you through to an overview slide regarding coursework and weighting of marks, a breakdown of the areas of study, and finally a summary of the assessment criteria. This is an ideal resource to show students what is expected throughout the course. This is the first in a series of works that will be available by the end of September including... 12 starters based on theory of music. 12 homework tasks based on theory of music. Content lessons appropriate to each different exam board for AoS 1 and 2. Assessment booklet and verbal feedback form to help keep track of student progress throughout the year.
