I have led English successfully in several schools. This document is an example of an action plan for leading English in primary, which would be useful for English subject leaders. This resource consist of 200 alien word flashcards to use in preparation for the phonic screening check. The words reflect the phonics content in the current national curriculum, and the graphemes which have appeared on previous papers, including oe, au, e-e, ore, ie and ue. This resource consists of a PowerPoint presentation with four supporting word documents for an hour-long training session on methods for teaching reading. This resource has been tried and tested and the children loved it! This resource consists of a PowerPoint presentation with ten punctuation and grammar activities reflecting the spelling, punctuation and grammar requirements from the year 2 curriculum for English: capital letters, full stops, question marks, exclamation marks, time conjunctions, compound sentences, subordination, apostrophes for possession, noun phrases and commas in lists. These activities are based on an animal theme and each one lasts for 5- 15 minutes. This resource could be used for standalone grammar sessions or as an English starter.
