Here are three tried and trusted lessons to help challenge bullying behaviour. These lessons have been used with small groups and whole classes, both in a mainstream and specialist setting. Lesson 1: What is Bullying? The lesson focuses on defining bullying and recognising how the behaviour becomes cyclical rather than linear. There is a comic strip and video links to help bring it to life for the students. There are some role plays attached too, to help model potential bullying scenarios. Lesson 2: Instigator or innovator? The lesson focuses on teaching students how they can diffuse bullying situations rather than inflame them. The lesson focuses on using the 5 senses to create vivid descriptions and features image support and a modelled answer.

This is a game designed to help students learn language devices in a fun and exciting way. This game is tried and trusted to engage students of all abilities, from high achievers to dyslexic children to individuals who are severely disengaged with learning. If Michael Gove frowned upon reading 'Of Mice and Men', he would definitely frown upon these two games! Keep Steinbeck's text alive with these two easy to modify games. The first game is snappily titled 'The Mice is Right' and is a multiple choice game where students have to guess the correct answers in relation to contextual issues around the book. The second game if 'Mice and Men dating'. The matchmaker game acts as facade for students' testing their ability to remember the characters by their traits and appearance. Unfortunately I can't add it here, but playing the game with 'California Love' adds a whole new element to playing along.
