Simplifying Algebraic Expressions V2 – Quiz Quiz Trade – Kagan – Printable Cards

(0)
A great activity to engage students and build both their mathematical ability and confidence, based on Kagan cooperative learning. Students have a card each and move around the room asking the question on their card to other students. The answer is also printed on their card so they can see if their partner has the right answer. If needed, they can use their understanding to coach their partner towards the right answer. Once both students have asked their question they trade cards and move on so each student has a variety of questions that they are asking to others. This activity involves simplifying algebraic expressions.

Full resources for an eye-catching and informative maths display based on MEAN MEDIAN MODE & RANGE. I've used the Beatles to get the info across (for no other reason apart from I like the Beatles!) but the resources can be easily amended so any characters could easily be used. I haven't included the pictures shown the photo for copyright purposes (I wasn't sure where the cartoon images came from) but they can be easily printed from google images. Large letters for the title Title of each section Large simple descriptors detailed speech bubbles describing the method

Logic Puzzle Trail - Full Display Materials - Maths/Logic/Fun Competition/Puzzles - Captain Pi!

A fantastic 'Logic Puzzle Trail' display that looks good and can be used in corridors or classrooms for group activities or competitions. The activity features a maths superhero of my own creation, CAPTAIN PI! (Yes I know I'm a geek!), His trusty sidekick Theta the Dog and their nemesis, Dr Surd! Loads of logic puzzles of varying degrees of difficulty (complete with solutions!) and pictures to go with each one to make the display more eye catching. You could add different pictures if you have some better ones. Title letters that can printed out on coloured paper if desired. I have also included character symbols so students can distinguish between the difficulty of each puzzle and a sheet of smaller identical symbols to go with each puzzle (the small circle next to each puzzle in the picture. Easy - Level 1 - Theta the Dog Medium - Level 2 - Captain Pi Hard - Level 3 - Dr Surd Also included are a sheet of Captain Pi's space boot footprints to lead students around the trail and add an extra eye-catching element to the display! This display is in the corridor and I have used it previously as a competition for students to come up with solutions and submit to me for a prize draw. It could also be used in classrooms as a more scaled down version to start tasks and discussions. Fun and challenging!

General Knowledge Quiz! - With Music Rounds! (+answers)

(0)
A fantastic general knowledge quiz with 5 question rounds and 4 music rounds. The subjects cover geography (anagrams of European capital cities and other assorted geography questions), Sport, News, History and Science & Nature. There are picture rounds and normal questions to be asked. The questions needed are provided on a separate Word document along with all the answers. In between each round is a music round playing a clip from 5 number one songs from each decade 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. I've previously done it where students can get a point for the song and a point for the artist but it can be used in any way you want. Also included are the answer sheets where students can write their answers for the normal rounds and a separate one for the music rounds. Works best with older students (Y11/Post 16) as some questions get a bit tricky! Feel free to chop and change the order or miss bits out if necessary! Enjoy!

An original and fun interactive quiz suitable for all high school students. Engaging rounds, fun pictures drawn by me, sound effects and more! I've been making these quizzes for years now and the students really love them! The them this time is summer holidays so all the rounds are linked to that. Round 1 - Geography - name the country from the capital city. Capital cities appear on a n airport departure board and the student shave to name the country. Round 2 - Celebrity Picture Round - Students have to identify photos of celebrities obscured by sunglasses. Round 3 - Movie Round - clips of recent movies play in the style of in-flight entertainment and students have to name as many movies as they can. They might want this video playing twice as it goes quite quick! Round 4 - Travel Picture Round - A cartoon version of me appears in photos of famous tourist destinations around the world and students have to name the country that they're in. I'm wearing some visual clues for the harder ones! Round 5 - Music Round - clips of recent popular songs play and students have to name the song and artist. All this is themed around a summer holiday with pictures and sound effects to make the whole quiz fun and engaging. It's timed to last about 50 minutes but can be stretched out if necessary or likewise split up and used as separate rounds at different times. Enjoy, and have a great summer!
