I've used these resources to create a "History of the World" display and a giant "Lego Timeline". All you need is some backing paper and ideally a world map. These materials were used to make the display shown in the photograph assigned to my TES shop. Images acquired through a search engine filtered to "labelled for re-use".

In this lesson students begin to explore people's rights, these two lessons were designed to support a new topic on campaigning for rights. In the first lesson students are encouraged to explore the nature of democracy in Britain during the 1800s. In the second lesson students look at who could and couldn't vote using a series of characters. A video clip about human rights through time is embedded. The first lesson will require the red SHP textbook "Re-discovering Britain 1500-1750" page 86 for the main task. Otherwise all required sheets are attached. Comments are appreciated.

Transformation of Surgery GCSE - 2 lesson pack!

These lessons were designed as an introduction to the Surgery unit for Edexcel but could easily be adapted for other exam boards. Students explore how surgery has changed using source images and consider how Blood, Infection and Pain could affect surgery. The lessons have relevant resources for both teacher and students and should explain themselves. There are links here to the documentary "Blood and Guts: A history of surgery" but these don't have to be used. You could also support these lessons with the blue and white Dawson textbook or the Edexcel endorsed brown textbook (2013) edition. Medicine Through Time - How use is this source type questions - Q3 of Edexcel 2013

(1)
My students get really worried when looking at "how useful is this source" type questions of the Edexcel medicine paper. This is currently Q3 of the 2013 onwards paper. This lesson seeks to build up their understanding of how to explain a source's usefulness. This lesson contains two example questions, some sentence starters to develop structure and most of a model answer. Students can then be set an example for homework. This lesson could be supported by pages 30-31 of the new edition of the Edexcel endorsed textbook (2013 edition). Comments are appreciated :-)

Stuart Economy: Cloth Trade and London Expansion - Double Lesson Pack for A-level

There are some aspects to the new Edexcel A-level course covering Stuart Britain which are a little dull. These two lessons are designed the make the content a little more engaging! In lesson one, students work as candidates for the apprentice to pitch an idea for a cloth trade business. It's brilliant for independent learning! The second lesson explores the economic importance of London during the 17th century. Images have been acquired through a search engine filtered to "labelled for re-use". The homework extract is taken from Yale University's Open Courses. Any questions please do contact me via twitter! My students loved these resources and I hope you do too!

These resources can be used to aid revision and course enrichment for your GCSE students. There's a mixed bag covering a range of topics. The two knowledge tests are really good for securing precise knowledge which is what Edexcel seem to want in their new reformed GCSE. I teach to Edexcel spec but I am sure that the information crosses into other exam boards. Images have been acquired through a search engine filtered to "labelled for re-use".
