Recommended for grades K-2nd! Use this series of worksheets with your younger Spanish students to support classroom instruction! This resource includes a coloring page followed by worksheets and a short story for reading comprehension.

¡Vamos a Hacer un Picnic! Check out my video preview to see how this game is played. This is honestly the most efficient & fun way to teach a lot of vocabulary quickly! Students love it! This is a fun game played with a single dice used to teach students the names of common food items in a fun, interactive way! In order to play this game, students should first be familiar with basic food vocabulary in Spanish. There are six categories and the first five include 12 food items in each: Fruits or “FRUTA” Vegetables or “VERDURA” Main Dish or “PLATO PRINCIPAL” Drink or “BEBIDA” Dessert or “POSTRE” If a player rolls a 6, he/she loses one item to the ants! Directions: For the game board, choose one of two pages, (one for a smaller, paper saving option and one for a larger option). Print out enough so that you have one per player or team. Laminate for durability. Print out pages 4 & 5, front-to-back and keep as a reference for game play. Print out the food cards on cardstock, (12 of each category), and cut along the lines, (pages 7-11). For this game you will need: One dice Place setting, (one per player/team, small or large) Food flashcards, (printed on cardstock) Teacher Tip! Help students learn this vocabulary by writing the Spanish name for each item on the back of each flashcard. Also, if you like this game, be sure to check out one of my best selling resources, “¡El Restaurante Fantático!” How to Play… The object of this game is to be the first to collect at least one food item from each category before the ants take something away! The first player starts by rolling the dice. For a “1”, choose a fruit, “2” a vegetable, “3” a main dish, “4” a drink, and “5” a dessert. If a player rolls a “6”, he or she loses one item to the ants! If a player already has an item from a certain category, he/she may collect another for up to 2 items per category. For a more difficult game, the players must use the correct Spanish word for each item in order to collect it. If a player does not know any of the items or says the name incorrectly, the teacher should say the correct name out loud and move on to the next player. For a more simple game, teach the Spanish word for each item that is chosen to the players as review. The first player that collects a food item from each category is the winner. Recommended number of players or partner teams, 4-5.

No prep! Just print and go! This is a fun holiday/winter activity for younger Spanish students to learn while having fun! Learning Targets: Listening Comprehension Parts of the Body Items of Clothing Weather Show the following video to your students: “Soy un Muñeco de Nieve” by Super Simple Español. Then, after watching the video, have them color and cut out the pictures. Finally, have your students paste the pictures in order and practice the simple story/song. Use the page at the end to make a snowman mask!

This listening activity works with a great free online resource through YouTube called “Buena Gente.” There are six episodes and each is between approximately 4-10 minutes long. Follow Sofía and Mateo on a journey where they attempt to find the owner of some very important belongings left behind in their new apartment! All episodes are based in Mexico. I recommend this activity for students in grades 5 or higher, with at least one full year of Spanish. (This material reinforces grammatical concepts typically covered in a Spanish 1 & 2 HS course.) These listening exercises are a great way for students to practice comprehension, learn new vocabulary, and discuss grammatical concepts like preterite vs. imperfect, the use of the subjunctive, the future tense, and more! The actors speak very slowly and clearly. I recommend showing these videos with the Spanish subtitles on for the first time and without them the second or third time. After watching, have students work alone or in groups to answer the questions. Review answers with the class to work on pronunciation and to answer any questions. A great tool to reinforce learning! Worksheets for each episode include a review of verbs, vocabulary introduced in the video, true & false questions, fill-in-the-blanks, question & answer or multiple choice. This is a simple exercise to help students with listening, comprehension, and writing skills by listening to a simple story by Calico Spanish. Reinforce learning of possessive adjectives with this fun board game! The object of the game is to be the first person to collect at least two flashcards in all categories using the correct possessive adjective & associated vocabulary word based on the picture. In order to play this game, students should first be familiar with Spanish possessive adjectives, (singular & plural), and simple vocabulary associated with food, school items, family members, household items, personal items, animals, and clothing. (Alternatively, you can write Spanish vocabulary words on the back of the flashcards if you want to focus on the possessive adjectives alone.) Possessive adjectives covered by this game are: MI, MIS TU, TUS SU, SUS NUESTRO(A), NUESTROS(AS) VUESTRO(A), VUESTROS(AS) SU, SUS Print out the game board on white card stock and cut into two half-size game boards, (you may need multiple copies). Laminate or use page protectors for durability. Print out flashcards on white card stock. Cut along the lines.
