C'est parti!

I am a French teacher and French national. I worked in England for nearly 10 years before moving to Ireland. I have published a textbook there for students preparing the French Leaving Certificate (equivalent to the A Level). I am passionate about French, teaching French, and creating new resources. If I share a resource, it's because it has worked well in my class and I think other teachers might like to use it. I hope you will find them useful! Enjoy!

French adjectives Grammar Lesson. 25 pages of exercices with audio

French adjectives Grammar Lesson. 25 pages of exercices with audio

A new approach, letting the students figure out the rules of adjectival agreement while working on their pronunciation. 25 pages of exercises complete with audio, transcript, and mini-dictionary, this unit explains the rules of the adjectives from the simple to the more complex ones, gradually bringing the students to observe, deduce, then formulate an hypothesis. Exercises throughout check their understanding. They are asked to listen and observe the language in order to realise some of rules of pronunciation in French. A set of cards is also provided to have the students work in groups or pairs, observing words in their masculine and feminine forms, helping them work out the rules. (The files are in PDF and in Word format so they can be easily adapted.) Please feel free to leave a feedback or ask any question. Check my other resources for more worksheets or to buy the cards separately. Thanks!

Introduction to/ revision of the French Leaving Cert Higher Level exam

Introduction to/ revision of the French Leaving Cert Higher Level exam

This is a course for the French Leaving Certificate Higher Level exam, to be done at the beginning of the year with the students in order to give them an overview of the exam format and tips on how to deal with each section, or as part of a revision course during the year. A series of exercises ask the student to think about the format of the exam, the points allocated etc.. The second part deals with the reading comprehension and shows the students how to carefully look at the way the questions are formulated, at the pictures used, at the titles in the exam before concentrating on the text itself. A third part deals with the vocabulary and the techniques to learn it. The 4th part deals with grammar and gives an overview of the tenses (grid). The 5th part deals with the written exam, its structure and has a guided exercise to do a 'journal intime' entry. The part on the listening exam is very short with an overview of the exam and links to websites to help students work at home. The last part deals with the oral exam and provides an overview of the exam, a list of typical questions and links to websites. The last page is a mini dictionary to help student understand the document and be more independent when doing the exercises. The content of the PowerPoint is the same as the word document.

French adjectives Cards (Figure out the rule)/ adjectifs

French adjectives Cards (Figure out the rule)/ adjectifs

2 sets of cards to print with lists of adjectives in their masculine and feminine form (e.g.: vif --> vive) so that students can observe the words and deduce the rules. One set has the rules at the back of the cards and the other has the rules as a separate set of cards. The idea is to let the students figure out the rules for themselves so that they can remember and understand better. I use these cards with a Grammar unit I wrote which is available on TES. The cards are in PDF and WORD formats so that they can be easily adapted. Thanks for any feedback given!
