C'est parti!

I am a French teacher and French national. I worked in England for nearly 10 years before moving to Ireland. I have published a textbook there for students preparing the French Leaving Certificate (equivalent to the A Level). I am passionate about French, teaching French, and creating new resources. If I share a resource, it's because it has worked well in my class and I think other teachers might like to use it. I hope you will find them useful! Enjoy!

Dessine moi Halloween (Toussaint)

(5)
🎃2 simple and fun reading comprehensions (one easy one hard) where students have to read the text about halloween and draw the items on the picture with the right colour and at the right place. Students need to know their colours in French, prepositions (devant, entre etc.) and some adjectives. The vocabulary also has to be introduced beforehand (la lune, l'arbre, un hibou, une sorcière, un balai, une citrouille, une tombe, une chauve souris) which can be done using the whole lesson that I uploaded on TES (see link below). As the documents are in WORD format, they can also be easily adapted. 🎃🎃🎃These resources are part of a much larger pack "French Halloween La Toussaint Activity Pack" which has 15 files and a 45 slides Powerpoint available in my shop or here: 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-halloween-la-toussaint-activity-pack-15-files-45-slides-ppt-fun-activities-and-video-11138029 🇫🇷Feedback appreciated! Thanks!🇫🇷

Introduction to/ revision of the French Leaving Cert Higher Level exam

(1)
This is a course for the French Leaving Certificate Higher Level exam, to be done at the beginning of the year with the students in order to give them an overview of the exam format and tips on how to deal with each section, or as part of a revision course during the year. A series of exercises ask the student to think about the format of the exam, the points allocated etc.. The second part deals with the reading comprehension and shows the students how to carefully look at the way the questions are formulated, at the pictures used, at the titles in the exam before concentrating on the text itself. A third part deals with the vocabulary and the techniques to learn it. The 4th part deals with grammar and gives an overview of the tenses (grid). The 5th part deals with the written exam, its structure and has a guided exercise to do a 'journal intime' entry. The part on the listening exam is very short with an overview of the exam and links to websites to help students work at home. The last part deals with the oral exam and provides an overview of the exam, a list of typical questions and links to websites. The last page is a mini dictionary to help student understand the document and be more independent when doing the exercises. The content of the PowerPoint is the same as the word document.
Verb Grid to revise

Verb Grid to revise

(0)
A grid with some verbs used in the Leaving Cert Ordinary level exam, but which could be used as a revision aid for the oral exam, for any written work really. (I took the verbs used from the 2015 to 2010 LC ordinary written exam and made a grid for my students). It has 22 verbs in different tenses (infinitive, past, present, future and conditional). I left part of the grid blank at the end so teachers/students can add their own.

Film français Entre les murs, Website with French movies

(3)
Just two documents: an article from the magazine 'La Liberté" untitled: "la vérité est-elle entre les murs" and a worksheet adapted from TV5 worksheets on the movie "Entre les murs" (not related to the article). BUT the most important part I am sharing with you is the website www.filmfra.com !!! It has hundreds of french movies that you can watch online (including Entre les murs), all subtitled in French (although the subtitles are a bit dodgy. They don't display the 'ç' for example) and some on the movies are Americans, still, I am happy I found it, so I'm sharing it with you. Enjoy

Karaoke French Christmas songs and gap fill

(0)
To introduce 2 Christmas songs to your classes, hopefully have them sing along, test their listening skills (and revise some grammar!) This resource comprises : - a PowerPoint with 4 slides: - 1st= Chorus for 'Vive le vent' made into a karaoke (with a bouncy ball) - 2nd= lyrics to 'Vive le Vent' (to use for the correction of the gap fill) - 3rd = chorus for 'Petit Papa Noël' also made into a karaoke (I tend to use the version of Arthur H instead of Tino Rossi so the karaoke follows the rhythm of Arthur H's version (see the youtube video 'Arthur H Petit papa Noël tiré de la BO L'apprenti Père Noël). Obviously, it can be used without the music.) - 4th= lyrics to Petit Papa Noël The worksheets are gap fills. - 1st on Petit Papa Noël concentrates more on the prepositions, link words and some adjectives - 2nd one on Petit Papa Noël concentrates on the vocabulary -3rd one on Papa Noël concentrates on the verbs. - 4th one = lyrics to Petit Papa Noël -5th= gap fill on Vive le Vent (vocabulary) -6th = same gap fill, same words to look for, different layout. -7th = lyrics to Vive le Vent If you buy this resource, please leave a feedback! Thank you. Please check my shop for more resources: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/minik66 -

Mission Noel! Christmas video and exercises

A PowerPoint with a video embedded for the trailer: Mission Noël and exercises to go with it. - The first slide is a listening comprehension with gap fills concentrating on the negatives (ne pas/ ne rien/ aucun and a few other words). It is better to click on the video and immediately click on the PowerPoint as I have timed the sentences to appear as the characters speak (it requires a bit of practice to get it right! The first sentence appears after 4 seconds). There is a worksheet to go with it. -The second slide is a correction to the gap fill -3rd slide: Oral questions (also as a worksheet, 2 per page) - 4th slide: a reading comprehension on family members (also as worksheet) with corrections -5th slide: same text with different questions in english about activities (with worksheet) with corrections. Worksheet: 3 pages -gap fill to go with the video - oral questions (2 per page to save printing) - reading comprehension Please see my other resources for Christmas and leave a feedback if you have time or if there's any problem with the video! Thank you for the feedback! I have added the videos as I cannot change the PowerPoint on my Mac. I hope this will sort the problem. If not, please let me know and I'll work at it again! :-) This worksheet can be done independently in the computer room (or in class with a projector). Students watch the videos and answer the questions (Videos: a song from Tryo, a speech from l'abbé Pierre, a news item on 'les sans abris', a presentation of 'les restos du coeur') It also has a reading comprehension and an oral exercise. I have added a very simple PowerPoint presentation to accompany this worksheet. I have not used it yet with my classes (I used the worksheet alone in a computer room with A Level students). I have embedded the videos to try and make life easier for teachers who would like to use this worksheet in class instead of a computer room. I have added the videos as I cannot change the PowerPoint on my Mac. I hope this will sort the problem. If not, please let me know and I'll work at it again! :-)

Game (Topic: classroom objects, aim: to practice pair work)

(0)
This is a game I often do with younger students after having introduced the question ‘Quest-ce que c’est?’, the vocabulary for classroom objects, and the pair work 'tu as …? Oui j’ai… non je n’ai pas de….. '. It only lasts 5 minutes but it is always a winner. It follows the rules of the game ‘hot and colder’ and helps practice the question and the pair work. It can easily be adapted.

Spin the wheel to revise the tenses

(2)
This is a one slide PowerPoint with a link (click on the picture) to the website www.wheeldecide.com where you can generate your own 'spin the wheel' exercise. I have done a revision of tenses which can be used as a starter with a projector. It really is just an excuse to share this website with you! There are so many possibilities with this! For example, one could do a 'Parle moi de...' spin the wheel game to revise the oral exam.

French Pronunciation Poster and exercises

(1)
This is a 'silly' rule that I have been using forever with my students, teaching them not to pronounce the last silent letters S, P, D, and T in French. It does improve their pronunciation when they realise this, and this silly rule helps them remember. I have done some exercises to go with the poster (The listening exercises don't have audio, so you'll have to use your own voice!). This is part of a longer module I have written mixing pronunciation and grammar exercises. I might share it with you soon! Feedback much appreciated!
