Some of the questions on the board include: With reference to the text, describe George. Explain how the theme of friendship is explored throughout the novella. With reference to the text, explain how Steinbeck uses foreshadowing throughout the novella. How to use: The student rolls the dice Using the discussion board the student finds the corresponding question. The student either answers the question or uses it as a basis for discussion. Each card has a different prompt question and they have worked well with students of all abilities, but have worked particularly well with SEN and EAL pupils. I have used these for speaking and listening lessons, as a fun starter task and occasionally as writing prompt for extension tasks. Each flashcard has a fun and interesting prompts that will not only allow for students to think critically but will help them in developing their vocabulary and language skills.

Each worksheet comes with a different image and space for students to make notes on their initial impression of the picture and to bullet point what they would be able to see, hear, taste, touch and smell if they were there. I have used these with a range of classes. They have either completed several to practice focusing on the five senses when writing descriptively or have used one particular worksheet and used it as a basis for planning a piece of descriptive writing. These are also helpful for cover work, extension tasks and homework. Note: All the worksheets are within the same word doc.
